I must have rented this a half dozen times as a young teen, but it is a pretty awful film. The controversy that surrounded it's original release, when it was actually pulled from theaters, is really the only mildly interesting thing about the film.

It's a really fucking awful movie. Even by 1980s slasher standards. There might be some good unintentional humor in it if you're drunk/stoned and watching it with a group of friends.
The only thing it has going for it is it notoriety, which gives it an interesting pedigree. The best part of it was the "outrage" section on the DVD where critics and concerned parents (and Mickey Rooney!) are flipping their shit over it. It's really easy to forget how cynical we've become as a society; a movie like this being made today wouldn't even raise an eyebrow.
