At least V TRIED to feel like a Rocky film with him broke again, back in the old neighborhood like I and II, most of the old locations. For me when Rocky got "civilized" and wealthy like III and IV, didn't really interest me.
RB was awesome and a great finale.
I agree with you except to me RB was the worst of the series.
Too much depressing things going on.

How many times does this need to be released?

I bought the 5 disc set that included the Biography disc on Stallone from Target a few years ago. Then FOX took over MGM's Library and released the exact same 5 disc set again only as slim packs this time around....and now this?

What bothers me isn't all the re-releases themselves, but the fact that they keep compounding their mistakes. If you're going to re-release something 7 times, get it right for God's sake. Get all 6 of them out there as 2-Disc Collector's Editions with sparkling new anamorphic transfers down-converted from HD, commentaries, full-length making-of docs, music videos, original trailers, and a few mini featurettes for good measure. The Rocky sequels rank up there with The Abyss, which has also seen at least 5 different incarnations on DVD and is still not anamorphic. If you can't get it right in 10 years times with 7 separate releases, then you just aren't trying very hard. Sorry Sony/MGM, no sale.

So thats only 4 releases so far.

I'll probably pick this up as I don't own any of the films. I wish it was the ultimate edition of these films. At least include the 2-disc Rocky, and a some sort of bonus disc for the others.

I counted at least seven different releases of the first Die Hard.

I dunno about that. Single-disc non-anamorphic, two-disc SE five-star, two-disc SE non-five star, single-disc w/commentary, steelbook. Army of Darkness has the Universal 1-disc, Anchor Bay LE 2-disc, Anchor Bay LE DC, Anchor Bay SE, Anchor Bay "Bootleg" DC, Anchor Bay Boomstick, and ADDITIONALLY the SD-DVD side of the HD-DVD Combo Format disc features a new anamorphic transfer and is not the same as Universal's original 1-disc SE. Plus, if you're counting hi-def, they also re-released the HD-DVD as an HD-DVD-only non-combo format disc.

Oh, also, if anyone cares, the reason this keeps getting released is cause the films keep switching studios. The first version of this set was MGM trying to make some money (the one that sporadically contained Rocky Road to the Top), the second was Sony trying to make money, and the third (this one) is 20th Century Fox trying to make money. It doesn't excuse them for not trying to make the definitive set any of these times, but that is the reason.

There are still plenty of DELETED SCENES that MGM could put together:

Such as:

1) ROCKY - Rocky and Adrian walk alone back to the locker room after his fight with Apollo
2) ROCKY II - Rocky delivers a speech to the high school he never graduated from, Abraham Lincoln High School (as seen in the Rocky II trading cards)
3) ROCKY III - an extended version of Rocky's verbal fight with Paulie after bailing him out from jail (as seen from the trailer)
4) ROCKY IV - Rocky gets chewed out by the boxing comission over Apollo's death (as seen from the trailer
5) ROCKY V - alternate opening (as seen on youtube) and original ending

And that's just from memory. C'mon, MGM, you're not even tryin'.

Um, Sony never released the whole collection. Only MGM and Fox did that. Sony only released RB.

From what I've read that scene no longer exists.

3. 20th Century Fox Collector's Edition #7
4. Thick case 2-disc
5. Steelbook
6. 2007 Release
7. New Steelbook
Plus, the one from this trilogy set and the one from this trilogy set.

Last first: the former link should be the same as the initial regular 1-disc and the latter should be the same as the "2007 release" which I noted in my rundown as "1-disc with commentary". I also don't know what the "thick case 2-disc" is...

Lastly, the new steelbook might or might not count...I'm not sure this isn't a Best Buy Exclusive.

I am pretty sure that its the previous anthology set with Rocky Balboa included.

Can anyone with the new Rocky Saga set tell me if the newly included Rocky Balboa disc is the same as the single disc version sold separately? Since there are no real extras for the movies in the Anthology set, I wondered if the special features from Rocky Balboa had also been stripped, or if they remain intact.

If it helps, the Rocky Balboa single-disc release contains the following extras: deleted scenes and alternate ending, boxing's bloopers, skill vs. will: the making of Rocky Balboa, reality in the ring: filming Rocky's final fight, virtual champion: creating the computer fight, and an audio commentary with Sylvester Stallone.

I'm curious to know this before I open up the Rocky Saga set and give away my old copy of Rocky Balboa. Thanks...

I was hoping for standard size cases, since I have the 2-disc Rocky I could have just switched it with the new one.

The Rocky Balboa included in this set is exactly the same content wise as the earlier stand alone release. The only difference is that it is in a slim case.

Are you counting just actual disc changes or case only changes as well?
