Transformers --> Oct. 16th!

In a mad rush to get the holiday shopping dollars, "Transformers" will be released on Oct. 16th...details to follow.

EdTheRipper 09-02-07 12:34 PM

I'll check it out.

Dane Marvin 09-02-07 12:39 PM

Wow, that's waaaaayyyyyyy sooner than I thought. Hopefully there's a 2-disc release from Dreamworks right from the get-go.

argh923 09-02-07 12:39 PM

Where did you see this? I haven't seen it on any of the major sites...everything I'd read said November.

bikerfool 09-02-07 12:42 PM

hope this is the HD DVD release date as well

I don't mean to thread-crap, but I'm still pissed this won't be on Blu-Ray... I hope there is a good SD release!

ChristianB 09-02-07 01:10 PM

There will be a single disc, two-disc special edition and a HD DVD.

argh923 09-02-07 03:06 PM

What's the source on that?

Dignam 09-02-07 03:16 PM

Wow, the date I have is December 11. I have a feeling this is meant to help push the HD-A3, which is a fanfuckingtastic idea. It'd be even better if they bundle it, but they probbly won't. They know it'll sell like Shiacakes anyway.

Link?

Just questioning because mid-October is not exactly holiday shopping time for most people. The December release with the A3 seemed more appropriate.

Seantn 09-02-07 03:29 PM

Don't people usually ask Mao for a link, even though he's always right? I know he has his 'sources', so he probably can't provide a link.

Dane Marvin 09-02-07 03:29 PM

Mao doesn't make stuff up so he had to have heard from somewhere. And I'm sure we'll find out where soon enough!

The Cow 09-02-07 03:47 PM

Totally agree that he probably knows. It's hard to have discussion on teaser posts though.

Doesn't say DVD or HD-DVD. The timing doesn't really make sense in mid-Oct. Details to follow -when?

Good for an announcement, and I fully believe he is correct, just doesn't give us anything to really discuss (yet).

mdc3000 09-02-07 05:48 PM

People on AVS were mentioning this October 16th date last week, so if Mao is reporting it now, it looks legit. That is WAY SOONER than I had imagined - I'll be all over the HD DVD.

TheMovieman 09-02-07 05:48 PM

I think that date is right. I read about this yesterday on another forum (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/forums/...=63979&start=0).

argh923 09-02-07 05:57 PM

It's just hard to believe for sure when a source isn't even mentioned.

Plus, DavisDVD (among others) was reporting a November release as of last week.

chris_sc77 09-02-07 06:03 PM

Think they'll have an option to make the transformers unable to talk ?

Seantn 09-02-07 06:36 PM

Well, he did say "details to follow".

How about the humans, while they're at it.

BRING IT!!!

Defiant1 09-02-07 07:01 PM

Wow, that was quick. I had already set November in my mind for its release date.

TNAJason 09-02-07 07:33 PM

FYE is taking pre-orders for Transformers to come OCTOBER 16TH

ReduxGuy 09-02-07 10:14 PM

Any news on a 6.1 track? :D

mikelowry 09-02-07 11:08 PM

If it's set for an October release, then I better save some bucks for that day!

tofferman 09-02-07 11:38 PM

Regardless of whether it is released on October 16th or a later date during the holiday shopping season, count me in for the HD-DVD release. It was a fun popcorn movie that should look fantastic in hi def.
