Why not just look it up? A quick search of the title came up with this:

Threads of the Mythology featurettes (Disc 61)
-Abduction
-Black Oil
-Colonization
-Super Soldiers

Other than this bonus disc, all the other discs are the same.

A list of the Mythology commentaries and episodes would be nice.

They definitely do not have original artwork.

See, one press release claimed that these audio commentaries would be included. But that would require remastering, so some of us doubt that they are really included.

If they are not included, many of us completest types will keep the mythology sets.

I have 48 hours before my return window on them expires, so no hurry... :)

Just checked the discs...none of those three are there.

tylergfoster 11-11-07 11:29 PM

Fox should mail us an audio CD with these tracks so that we can put them on our computers and listen to them with the episode.

No, we knew that these were there. We needed to know if the audio commentaries from the mythology set regular episodes were in the ultimate collection.

Alas, they are not. Stupid stupid Fox.......

Thank you very much for checking for us!

So much for "ultimate". Why can't these companies get these things right? The Twin Peaks "Definite" Set leaves us special features from both season sets, and now this. :grumble:

Gotcha :)

I'm getting this "Ultimate" Edition for Christmas, but I'm also keeping the Mythology sets. Not even for the commentaries, but so that I don't have to open up this huge box to watch an episode, I could just pop in a disc from the Mythology sets if I'm lazy.

Trevor 11-12-07 10:44 AM

I think I'll do the same thing Newlywed.

I was hoping to be able to return my Mythology sets and get that $80 back to offset the double dip, but I guess not.

Its just you. Its either the 3rd or 4th best season in the entire run.

QFT.

Some of the effects are a little dodgy but the 1st season has some fantastic monster-of-the-week episodes and some great early mythology episodes.

danyanez 11-12-07 04:20 PM

Man, nobody can grab a camera and take a picture of the set? I thought there were lots of x-philes around here. My set is shipping from bn.com

Here is a picture I grabbed from an eBay auction:

And I found another forums with pics! yay!!!

Honestly, 2 out of my 5 favorite 'stand alone' episodes came from season 1. Ice and Beyond the Sea

Trevor 11-12-07 04:33 PM

Humbug was my favorite episode. Season 2 or 3 I think.

SilverDreams 11-12-07 06:50 PM

I don't care for the packaging. Those cardboard backs with the slits to slide the disc in are just begging for scratches. That's cheap. But probably not as damaging as the ALIAS set packaging. That was a nightmare.

billz 11-15-07 02:57 AM

I received my set from BN.com yesterday. After marvelling at the awesome outer packaging, I was sad to see that the inside was pretty damaged. The outer cover folds up to reveal the individual season sets stacked in the top and a cardboard drawer in the lower front. Well, I tried to slide the drawer out but it wouldn't budge, then one corner of it tore open! There were some facial tears and crush marks under the drawer area too. I then took out the season packs and found that the carboard piece that holds all of the sets up was ripped and pushed through to the drawer area, which is why it wouldn't move. Once I pulled the drawer out it would not go back in flush with the front again, so the magnetic outer cover that folds down would not sit flush against the inside wall.

Very, very disappointing. This was a great price with the 50% off coupon that was going on a few weeks ago, but it also illustrates the perils of buying a collector's set through mail order. I called customer service and described what the box was like and they are supposed to be sending me a prepaid return label and a replacement set. So far so good on the service side. I just hope the next one is in better shape. I'm not asking for a pristine box, but I won't settle for the shredded cardboard mess I received the first time.

DJariya 11-15-07 04:21 AM

I picked one up today at work for $131.99 (I work at the FOX lot in Los Angeles, hence the massive discount) I think the set is pretty damn cool and I cannot complain about the price I got it for. The drawer that stores the comic and pamphlets was a little dinged up, but still in good shape. It seems like the set retained all the content from the original digi-pack sets and I was very pleased to see that.

I was busy going though the episode guide and I didn't realize there were very few commentaries in each season. Seems to range between 2-3.

Robert 11-15-07 06:09 AM

Has anyone checked out the Season 6 episode 'Triangle'? It has a screwed up transfer on the Season 6 set. Here's hoping it has been fixed for this complete series? -pray-

ScissorPuppy 11-15-07 07:27 AM

Triangle was such a cool episode, but the transfer looked like it came from VHS. It was horrible!

Rogue588 11-15-07 01:01 PM

So did Fight the Future. Man, was that picture quality terrible. The dts, however, rocked.

You need to add Eve. Maybe not to your top 5.

That episode was a creepy gem.

I loved that episode, but I try to forget because a band took the name of the episode and suck :)

I came here to see if anyone else had this problem. I got the X-Files set on BN.com using th 50% off coupon. When it got here tonight the floor that the DVD cases rest on had busted through on two sides and that made it nigh near impossible to get the drawer out. Plus, there are some scrapes on the sides also. Sweet set, but this is really disappointing. Does anyone know if the B&M store would allow me to swap it out there?

Technically, they only took the name of Eve 6. Not of all the other Eves. ;)

I also have this problem. I don't know if BN shipping is to blame though. Kind of just seems like poor design, or poor packaging by the manufacturer. (I can picture the assembly line smashing the booklet/cases into the box...)

Because I had heard of others with this problem, I removed the dvd's then inserted a small ruler into the drawer "handle" and pushed up gently on the damaged surface while pulling out the drawer. I temporarily put the drawer back in upside-down and I'm going to try and sure up the damaged flap with some black tape.

I think I can live with this because of the great deal.

D'ohboy 11-17-07 09:38 PM

I verified something strange last night...

I had looked over the set at BB the week it was released.

When I received my copy from BN I noticed that the box text was bilingual. (French) I thought this was kind of odd, and was almost sure the copy at BB was not this way.
Stopped by BB last night and double checked; just English.

Who else received the bilingual box and why?

BKenn01 11-17-07 09:42 PM

I also remember that the MSRP for the original sets was $150. Thank god that this wasn't the norm.
Yea, now I wish someone would tell Paramount that. Have you seen the retail on the HD version of season 1 of the original Star Trek series. Crazy

I got mine from BN.com and it's all in English. You must've gotten a box from a shipment meant for Canada that was accidently sent to the wrong place.

Anyway, I haven't opened mine yet and the outer box looks fine, but there's stuff rattling around inside. I guess that's a bad sign.

Heat 11-18-07 12:30 AM

Looks nice, I'm just waiting for the price to come down to the $120 to $130 range (too bad I don't work at Fox lots!).

I did see the individual seasons today at Meijer at BOGO free, so $180 for all nine seasons. Not a horrible price, but not a great price either.

Nah, that's probably just the items in the drawer. They all vary in size.
Hope it's okay.

phatboy 11-18-07 12:43 PM

I'll just wait until it shows up as a DOTD on Amazon when it's half off like all the other tv shows, then i'll pick it up. Plus aren't they making a sequel to the movie, so that'll probbly mean ANOTHER box set.

shyguy1083 11-18-07 07:02 PM

any pics? anyone? highly doubtful i'll spring for this since i just purchased the collector's editions from costco earlier this year, but i'd like to see what the set-up looks like inside, since the pictures on the back of the box don't really do much. also, i wanna see what the poster they have included is like (size, etc.)

Anyone else having trouble unloading the individual sets on Ebay? I have all 9 sets (original not new slimpacks) plus a bunch of extras and can't get one bite! What is really sad is that each set cost between 50-100 bucks each...OUCH!

stingermck 11-19-07 12:35 PM

I sold my mythology sets over the weekend, cause I just wasn't watching them anymore. Got $40 total for all 4. Yippee.

You have to unload those singles as soon as a complete set is announced, before everyone finds out :)

Yep...that's the key.

Robert 11-19-07 05:11 PM

Can someone who has this new set please take look at Season 6 episode "Triangle" and tell me if it has been remastered or it is still the same shitty transfer?

argh923 11-19-07 08:17 PM

They're the exact same discs...no changes have been made.

Sparrow 11-19-07 09:35 PM

I had no issue selling off ALL seasons of X-File for roughly $30/season after shipping and fees, so that more than covered the $95 cost of the set from B&N. However, selling Seinfeld has been a $#$*, I've yet to sell a single season :(

Exactly... I was lucky with THE OC, QUEER AS FOLK, and GILMORE GIRLS...
