So, how many hours of content are crammed onto the two single-sided RSDL discs? What is the average bitrate across the episodes? 19 episodes are what, 25 minutes each?

From what I'm reading, it looks like they did a decent job at mastering, but I'm worried about compression artifacts due to low bitrate, since animation is notoriously hard to compress.

These multi-volume season sets amount to little more than a dangling carrot stick... How many of you truly believe we will get the full 16 releases of SMURFS?

Has anybody got the Complete Series set sometimes advertised in the Ads by Google on DVDtalk?
It's from www.classictvcollectors.net and sells for $35.99 (they have a coupon for $25 off $75 order.
Just wondering about the quality.

I'm betting that bootleg set is missing a ton of episodes. I can't imagine they pulled together over 400 episodes for $35. Even for a bootlegger that is just insane.

I'm also betting it's VHS quality on DVD-R. I don't think I'd bite even at that low price.

I doubt they'll release all 16 sets necessary to complete the series, but I probably wouldn't buy all 16 sets anyways. I think buying this first set was worth it for nostalgia purposes and to show my kids, but I doubt I'll buy more than one or two more sets. That's just the way I feel about The Smurfs, though. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would love to see the entire series.

I picked it up yesterday, after I went to a couple of stores that were sold out. I got it for $21.97 I think at Costco.
