Kind of odd they'd leak word about the special edition before the original was released.
Oh well, I've already pre-ordered from Columbia House. I like the movie so much, I can see myself double-dipping in the future for the SE.

I haven't seen it and now with this news, I'll wait. Maybe I'll :gasp: rent the upcoming disc and then wait to buy the new one. Seems kinda dumb to buy the barebones when I know about the 2-disc.

Unless it's a case like Léon: The Professional or Kingdom Of Heaven, where the DC is such a large improvement that the theatrical cut isn't needed, some completists (such as myself) might pick up the bare-bones version just for the theatrical cut.

^ Yep, we've been talking about this in the thread TomOpus just linked. And David Prior, who is producing the DC has made several comments about it in that thread (he is the one who informed us the theatrical cut is available only with the barebones version). You just might want to give it a look.
I am actually considering getting both versions (namely because I can't wait til 2008, but also because this became one of my favorite films of all-time after I saw it just one time in the theater, so I need to be a completist with this one!).

Can't wait for January. Let's just hope the SE ed. is Fincher's Cut. I really would want an excellent cover art this time coz I think the barebones ed. has a crappy one.

I'm picking up the theatrical version since it seems the director's cut won't also include that version.

Zodiac has become my favorite movie of all time now.i've seen it twice on the big screen and i plan to see if for even more if they don't pull it off theatres in here...
would'nt be cool if they released a 3-disc set with both versions? i'll definitly buy both versions but i'll wait for the price drop, unless the barebone disc has a slipcase,i'll buy it now...so please to those who got it...tell us!
