Anchorman: Unrated -> Gift Set
Big -> Extended Edition
Black Hawk Down: Extended Cut -> 3 Disc Deluxe Edition
Blazing Saddles: 30th Anniversary -> Mel Brooks Collection (This was actually a downgrade.)
Dr. Strangelove: Special -> 40th Anniversary Edition
The Great Escape -> 2 Disc Special Edition
Green Mile -> 2 Disc Special Edition
Happy Gilmore -> Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison Collection
History Of The World: Part I -> Mel Brooks Collection
Reservoir Dogs: 10th Anniversary Special Edition -> 15th Anniversary Gas Can
Spaceballs -> Collector's Edition
Spider-Man 2 -> 2.1
The Wedding Singer -> Totally Awesome Edition
Young Frankenstein -> Mel Brooks Collection

That's a lot when I list them all. To be fair, most of the double dips were Google Checkout or Columbia House purchases, so they were cheap. I've mostly avoided double dipping for stupid reasons too, most of them were significant upgrades.

LOTR - own both the theatrical and extended
Cinema Paradiso - triple dip (one of each release in region 1)
Hero - bought one from Asia and the region 1 release
House of Flying Daggers - see "Hero" above
Ben Hur - sold the shorter release for the 4-disc version
Gladiator - got original release and Extended Cut
Walk the Line - sold regular release (used) and got the Limited Edition for Xmas
Seabiscuit - see "Walk the Line" above
2001: A Space Odyssey - sold original non-anamorphic release for the anamorphic upgrade
Last of the Mohicans - see "2001: A Space Odyssey" above
Clueless - sold original release for the "Whatever Edition"
Clerks - sold non-anamorphic original release for the 10th Ann. Edition
Charlie's Angels - sold original release for the Superbit Edition (used)
Basic Instinct - sold the limited edition stupid pen-in-the-box release eventually started freezing up and got replaced by the reissue special edition sans dumb packaging
American Pie - got Unrated and Ultimate Edition for free ticket (and theatrical cut, which is always funnier on comedies anyway)
40-Year-Old Virgin - got Unrated cut for Xmas and later bought theatrical cut
Four Weddings and a Funeral - sold non-anamorphic original release for anamorpihc Deluxe Edition
Pulp Fiction - sold non-anamorphic Canadian release and got Collector's Edition for xmas
Moulin Rouge - got original 2-disc release and later purchased one-disc verison for cheap to have a copy at school (I showed a scene of it that's tied into the Classics)
Troy - bought a duplicate copy cheap off ebay for school (showed a few scenes in class)
Matrix - sold each individual release (including Animatrix) and replaced with Ultimate Edition AND got Ultimate Edition with Neo head for xmas (still unopened) AND bought Ultimate Edition in HD-DVD
Superman Returns - got standard edition as part of Superman 10-disc Ultimate Collector's Tin and bought HD-DVD
The Break-up - got standard edition for birthday and bought HD-DVD
The Mask - sold non-anamorphic original release and got Collector's edition for birthday
There's Something About Mary - got oringial release for birthday and sold, later replacing with Collector's edition
Die Hard - gave away original release and replaced with Fox Five-Star release
Michale Jordan DVDs - sold original set and replaced with 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition
Raise the Red Lantern - gave away awful original Asian release, which was probably a VHS port and replaced with first anamorphic, decent release I could find (only to discover a good Region 1 release is on the way)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - ebayed an Asian release with no special features and got a refund, replacing with the original Region 1 release and an ebayed Superbit release
2046 - got good Asian release and bought a used copy of the Region 1 release

I see most of my double-dips as upgrades, and in some cases I like having both versions.

LOTR... all three to get the uncut versions...

such a difference there... the theatrical releases just weren't the whole movie...

Army of Darkness Official Bootleg Edition for the edited scenes and the real ending...

Halloween for the TV scenes...

Das Boot twice for the Director's cut and then the entire German miniseries version...

there's more but i can't remember right now...

Terminator 2 (original(?), ultimate edition, AND extreme edition)
Reservoir Dogs (10th Anniversary, 15th Anniversary)
Scarface (gift set, Platinum edition)
Pink Floyd The Wall
Fistul of Dollars
For A Few Dollars More
Clerks

Without DVDtalk the above list would be about a mile longer

Anticipated Double Dips:
Taxi Driver (Korean Superbit --> 2-discer in August; the Superbit is a beautiful DVD on my upconverting player but I'm a collector and Taxi Driver is one of my favorite films)
Kill Bill (Whole Bloody Affair?)
Pulp Fiction (15th Anniversary is probably on the horizon)
Grindhouse (considering it bombed so bad, I expect multiple releases and I'll buy them all being the Tarantino/Rodriguez sucker I am)
Chasing Amy (there seems to be a pattern with older Kevin Smith movies)

Not until you buy 6 copies of the worst film ever made (Ghost Rider) just to get all the store exclusives.

I'm easy. Just one title: Army of Darkness (or, as it says on the dvd cover Bruce Campbell vs. Army of Darkness). Double-dipped on the Bootleg
Edition
for the Boomstick Edition. My reason: Better transfer (on the theatrical cut) as opposed to the muddy transfer of the director's cut found on the former.

I seem to have a pretty good track record for *not* double-dipping. Either I have been lucky enough to have not bought the initial release and to just get the subsequent special edition or I have not been inclined to repurchase a movie that I already own in an earlier edition.

EDIT: Crap, I forgot about V for Vendetta. Not really a double-dip for me in the traditional sense, but I did buy two copies of the 2-disc. I bought the version from Best Buy (Canada) for the lenticular cover and the graphic novel reprint. Then I got the version from Best Buy (US) for the scaled replica of V's mask and the art cards. I also bought a version from Future Shop for the free steelbook case, but I returned it (without the steelbook case of course .. *ahem).

Early on in my collecting, I was more prone to double dip. Now, there's got to a REALLY good reason to buy the same movie again (like getting Tremors 1-4 for $15 when I already owned the first movie).
