You then can choose "Cutom Sort" from the drop down to view it in your custom order.

See they listened to some of the complaints and finally added some color:
http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/5...03129crtj4.jpg Genius idea there to add black text onto backgrounds that come in dark grey, darker grey and super-dark blue. |
Now if they'd just allow 500 titles per page like before, we're all set.

... and re-instate folders and the rather minor ability to add new titles...

OK, since this seems to be the DVDSpot Love Thread ;) I have a question. I just spent an hour or so Custom sorting my collection to reflect exactly how it is on the shelf (sequels grouped together, TV separate but alpha'd at the end, etc).
I would like to print out a list to reflect that custom order (to check for missing or misplaced DVDs). The problem is that DVDSpot does not include a custom field when "exporting" the file to Excel, so there is no way to sort the spreadsheet that way. Does anyone know of a different way? Or is DVDSpot planning on making this possible? I would think it would be simple, add one more field to the "export to file" function. |

Ther is an "Owned_Custom" field when I export it, but it is completely blank for all rows/cells.
Maybe I should be over at DVDSpot's forum. I've never posted there. I'll try it. Thanks  |

So, I bought Delicious-Monster, even though 40 bucks sounded rather ridiculous, but the trial version got me hooked. I've just about got all my DVDs in there, and then will start on books. I'm a bit disappointed that there's no way with the program itself to have your collection online. I guess there are a couple of third party programs that let you do it, but I could get neither program to work. I looked on their website and I guess Delicious-Monster is working on a 2.0 that will probably include this feature, but while all the other updates were free, 2.0 is going to cost yah. So, I just spent 40 bucks for something thats going to be obsolete in a couple months and they're going to charge me more to replace it. Nice. Apple ap. Apple sensibilities.

The thing I hated about DM was the bloat. It kept image files of every "related items" item on your harddrive (which amounts to a huuuuuge amount of space when you have a whole lot of items in your inventory), instead of just updating that section dynamically when you clicked that tab. Them asking a user to pay 40 bucks again for that new update is a kick to the crotch as well. It crashed entirely too often for me to pay up in the first place, and frankly, I couldn't justify paying that much for a program that, while pretty, didn't do all that much.

I just noticed Amazon has an inventory thing....it automatically adds stuff you buy from them, but you can add other things as well. You can check/uncheck specific items to share publicly or keep private.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/ays/104-600...Fhomenav%5Fyml Anyone used it? If you buy a whole lot from Amazon that would be a time saver, though I don't know how it is to add new stuff. And of course I don't know how long it will be supported. Here's mine (I think). http://www.amazon.com/gp/ays/104-600...d&sortDir=desc |
I tried to sign up to DVDSpot and it keeps saying that my e-mail address "is not in the format this page requires!" WTF?
|
I got that too, from another website--my email address ends in @nc.rr.com like many Roadrunners. Is yours in that format, or is it @somewhere.com?
