Interesting Packaging Mistake
I ordered Shinobi: Heart Under Blade from Funimation at Amazon.com and received the disc the other day. Inside the sealed DVD case were the discs for Afro Samurai Dierctor's Cut, which doesn't release until May 22. I guess I'll watch it, but I really wanted Shinobi. I emailed Funimation and have not received a response yet. Interesting goof, I wonder how many other people had this happen...

Happened to me a few years ago. I bought the Rocky Box Set, and inside the case for Rocky IV was the DVD for the movie Roadie (which I already owned). Had a hell of a time getting it replaced.

I've had this happen once. Purchased "An Innocent Man" with Tom Selleck at Best Buy, and when I opened it, there was another movie inside. I also had a hell of a time making a return.

I had this happen with a CD once. I just remember it was an REM CD, but it had a Cole Porter CD inside. Fortunately I was a very regular customer of this music store and they took it back.

How's this for messed up - had a customer order a cheeseball movie called Convoy. I got it in, sold it to them. A few days later they were back in saying that the movie wasn't on the disc. The disc had the label for Convoy on it, but when you put it in the player it was some collection of music videos for a band called Floater.

it happens more often than you think, the best one we got at work was an Earth Wind, and Fire CD labeled as such but has the music of Rage Against the Machine on it. The customer was pretty confused.

Out of the thousands of dvds I've bought, the only packaging mistake I can recall is my copy of Lonesome Dove that had two copies of the second disc on the second hub of the dvd-case - but it wasn't a big deal, since the first disc was still there.
So I'm assuming there's a Lonesome Dove package out there with no 2nd disc (IOW, a lonesome 1st disc...)

I bought a copy of Solaris in the bargain bin at Walmart, and there was a blank CD in it instead of the movie...A BLANK CD! The managers didn't want to believe me that it came that way. If I was trying to short change them a movie, doesn't it make a little more sense that I would do it for a $20 and up disc, and not a freakin' $5 bottom of the bargain bin title?

As for cds - I once bought a Richard Thompson cd (Shoot Out The Lights), and even though the disc itself was marked correctly (so it wasn't really a packaging mistake), the content of the disc was Bowie's Ziggy Stardust.

My horror story was purchasing Pearl Jam's first cd. Pearl Jam artwork: check. Pearl Jam label and track listing on cd: check. Pearl Jam actually ON the cd: nope. It was Celine Dion. I took it back and told the clerk I thought Pearl Jam new "mellow" sound was intriguing. I called Sony's PR dept and they really wanted me to send it back. But I kept it for shites & giggles.

The most i've ever seen was customers returning DVD's that contained 2 of the same disc in a multi disc set.

The only weird thing that happened with music that I can recall was when I bought the cassette for the Smiths' Louder than Bombs, it had two copies of the cassette liner thingy.

I bought "To Sir With Love" for my wife several years ago. Supposed to be widescreen on one side, fullscreen on the other. The widescreen side had a Godzilla movie on it, menus and all. Never returned it because my wife is happy enough with the fullscreen version
, and to tell the truth, I thought it was kind of a cool foul-up.

I bought a copy of The Criterion Collection edition of Andrei Rublev and opened it only to discover that there were two discs inside, stacked on top of each other.
I also had the same experience as slop101 with the Richard and Linda Thompson CD. Those are the only two though in all my years of buying media.

I bought a movie from Circuit City and when I got home and opened it, there was no dvd in the case. I took it back to the store and had a hard time with one guy who started smarting his mouth off to me saying that I kept the disk to get another one.
I replied back to him "how do you know that there was a dvd in here in the first place?" Then he tried to smart his mouth off again and his manager heard everything that was said and exchanged it for the same title.

I had a hard time returning a That '70's Show set at Wal-Mart that was missing disc 1. They really thought I was trying to screw them over. But I got a new set when I asked for the manager. I opened the new set right there in front of the clerk.
