If anyone doesn't know, Wal-Mart has a bonus disc that is included (for 19.xx) which basically features the 2nd R2 disc. More info is in DVD Bargains.

Hey, if they put all the extras on the R1 release, they wouldn't have anything left for the Super-Deluxe Special Extended Collectors Edition coming out next year. *rolls eyes*

Other than a couple commentaries, with the Walmart Bonus disc, they didn't really leave much for a collector's edition down the road.

From Aintitcool:

Alright, you lucky LA-based AICNers! Here's a chance to meet Edgar Wright and get your HOT FUZZ DVD signed!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. LA is such a weird place for me. I hate the fakeness, the money-grubbing, the traffic, the general attitude, but I love that it's a movie-driven town, I love the awesome shopping (Golden Apple, etc) and I love it that big events can happen there on a whim. Like the American Cinematheque can bring in just about anybody because it's all of a 40 minute drive for them.

And then there are the out of towners that come in for business, like Mr. Edgar Wright, who says, "Why not do a signing? Why not introduce a double-bill of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead at the New Beverly?"

So, you can hassle the poor Brit at the Virgin Megastore at Hollywood and Highland at 7pm next Tuesday, August 7th. He'll be selling and signing FUZZ DVDs and I've also heard he'll squeeze your breasts (men and women alike) if you utter the phrase: "I want your fuzz." No package squeezing, though. That crosses the line.

If you don't get enough of Wright there, then you can also try to get your boob-squeeze in when he introduces the FUZZ/SHAUN double-bill at the New Beverly on August 12th. Have fun, you lucky LA area readers!
I'll be there!

is the R1 video as bad as I am hearing? DVDbeaver said it was so soft it hurt his eyes to watch it and only the HD DVD version was worth seeing....

SD review "The 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen looks soft and drab. Perhaps due to the way that the movie was shot, some outdoors scenes strained my eyes."
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...2/hot_fuzz.htm

HD review: "the HD-DVD is much sharper and more detailed than the SD-DVD. My eyes no longer feel tired and sore after watching the movie, and the HD version loses the “dullness” that plagues the SD version."

Is the R2 SD version better perhaps? Didn't find a comparison on that site.

I don't think it looked that bad when watching it yesterday.
