Hmmm. Thanks for the info. I haven't gotten the chance to read through the entire thread. I'm a bit jacked as well. That goes for the Underworld Evolution and V for Vendetta steelbooks as well. I would have loved to get my hands on those as well, but $50 is a bit much for a steelbook.

Picked up the giftset at my store with instore pickup, I didn't see any left. It actually looks cooler than I thought it would, so I might have to hold onto it.

Sure it is, especially when you contrast it with the $16 pricetag at Fye (after rebate).

It's weird. Right now the Best Buy Canada site is showing 17 copies still available online, but then just below that it is says that it is out of stock online.

And don't forget the bonus disc, which looks very cool - interviews with Frank Miller and Zack Snyder, insider's look at the training of the Spartans, etc.
I didn't even preorder it and got the bonus disc no problem.

I got the last gift set at my BB at about 11:30am. The guy said they got flooded with people when they opened and he didn't know how I managed to find one so late. Pretty damn nice. Other customers that weren't so lucky looked at me with envy.

It seems like the BB I went to was one of only a few without much of a demand. I went into the BB in Danvers, MA at 11:50 on my lunch break and wasn't sure if there would be any of the helmet editions left. I went behind the main display and saw two, thinking they were the last ones. However, I kept walking around and saw at least 10 more on a different table, as well as about 3 more on the traditional new release rack.

For those worried about BestBuy not shipping their orders, I'm sure they did, it just hasn't updated in their system yet. This happens from time-to-time, so it shouldn't be something to worry about.

IF, on the other hand, something is screwed up, well, I won't be a happy consumer. I pre-ordered mine way back on June 12th. :hairpull:

I headed out of work for a little while so I could get to Best Buy shortly after they opend at 10am. Didn't look like there was a huge rush or anything. Normally when they have a release like this they have a table set up with some on display, but this time all they had was the regular 4 sided display and on the backside were all the helmet releases. There were maybe 20 or so when I was there with just a couple of guys looking at them and actually opting to pick up the regular 2 discer.

I actually did pretty good with mine because I picked up 2 copies, 1 for me and 1 for my brother in the UK (it's not released there until 1st October). Headed up to the check out with a few other things I had picked up and before checking out mentioned that I had signed up for the Summer Extravaganza they have were you spend $100 and get a $10 GC and I was curious whether it would get mailed to you or if they gave a you a GC to spwnd on your nrxt visit. Anyway, she asked me for my information to check and I told her both my name and phone number and my information wasn't on the system for some reason.

Anyway, one of the supervisors happened to be standing there and noticed what was going on and was actually kind enough to knock off $5 off of each set, making them $29.99 apiece and a further $5 for the hassle that I would endure in calling them up and asking why they didn't have my info in their system.

So, kudos to my Best Buy and the Suporvisor in charge for being so helpful :) :thumbsup:

The Best Buy store I work at received 30 copies of the helmet set. Needless to say, they were all gone rather quickly. I had set one aside for myself, but didn't really think they would sell out so fast. Most of the employees that bought one, did it before the store opened, but I was actually hesitant about buying it. When I saw how fast they flew off the shelf, I knew I had to keep mine.

The media people went nuts with non-stop phone calls :)

I swung by my BB at about 4:30. They had one helmet set left. I picked it up, looked at it, and put it back.

Did you get this in store or through Fye.com? I preordered through Fye.com, and I wonder if I'll get the bonus disc with the set.....

Does anyone think this "Helmet Edition" will run out quickly and be on-demand in the secondary market (ie. ebay)?

I may try and find one extra and hold on to it for about a month or a couple weeks.

The Spartan helmet was completely sold out in a matter of hours at both Best Buy's in my area.

I purchased the BB exclusive along with the FS steelbook.

I'm in Canada, but have a US shipping address. I called the closest Fye across the boarder and their bonus disc for 300 was only for pre-orders and won't have one if I came to purchase it.. I got an email saying that I could get the bonus disc online.. I want to get free shipping, but $2.01 short.. Are there any cheap filler items I can order from their site?

I'm curious, where does it say that it's out of stock? Does it actually say this on your order status/tracking info, or does it only say it on the website? If it's the latter, I wouldn't be worried.

Never in my life did I think this was the second coming of tickle me elmo. all 3 best buy stores in my area are sold out. All 3 tell me there was a line in the morning for those damn things. Gimmie me an f'n break.
