Very easy to do I just went to the web-site & entered my old "Key".
DVDprofiler gave me a new "Key" downloaded 3.0 with dial-up took 45 mins.
I backed up my 1659 collection apprx. 20 mins. No problems @ all.

If I had to pay a 2nd time for this great program "Improvement" I would of!

No, Barry you don't and BTW there is an OFFICIAL DVDProfiler forum, where you can get questions answered.

Is anyone else not able to download 3.0 today? I have been trying but i cannot seem to get the link to work from the site...

thnx!

ytrez 05-19-07 04:18 PM

When I went to add some DVDs today I got this message when updating the online profile:

This file format is a later version than this program's version.

The new format is incompatible with this version.

To process this file, obtain a newer copy of DVD Profiler.

I'm using version 3.0.1, build 1104.

It only started doing this after the recent return.

Any thoughts?

DouglasRobert 05-19-07 05:06 PM

You need to download version 3.0.2, Build 1124

superstringtheory 05-19-07 05:40 PM

Yeah that version is still not launching from the site for me...keeps hourglassing.

Thanks, DouglasRobert, I went to the homepage and it said "download 3.0" which I already had, so I didn't realize there was a more recent version. Thanks again.

<i>skipnet your provoking the situation in this manner was uncalled for as well. The two of you are obviously free to disagree, just do it w/ a modicum of respect or one (or the both of you) is going to find yourself suspended.</i>

Altimus -

I'm with you. I don't see how they could go from a two-tiered, basic/deluxe, free/fee model to an all-out pay or nothing scenario.

A lot of 2.4 users (like me) were quite happy with the functionality of the basic package. Now, Intervocative has been bought-out and 2.4 will no longer be supported, so if you want to continue using that basic level of functionality, you have to pay for the deluxe 3.0 version.

Free, not free, it's all the same to me, but for those who are complaining, you guys have had one heck of a trial period to decide if you're finally going to buy. Seems a little spoiled to be complaining about it after all this time. Frankly, I'm stunned the free ride lasted as long as it did. What's it been, 4 or 5 years now? Personally I like the program and it suits my needs, but there are other options out there if 30 bucks is gonna break the bank.

I wonder how many people here use, say, Firefox. Wonder what they would think if they decided to start charging for it, and make using any older free version impossible.

I've been using it since 2000.

"'Thanks to the Google agreement, the Mozilla Foundation went from revenue of nearly $6 million in 2004 to more than $52 million the next year [similar revenue is expected in 2006]...In 2005, the foundation created a subsidiary, the for-profit Mozilla Corporation,...mainly to deal with the tax and other issues related to the Google contract
How do they do it, with a free program???

If it's a piece of software that I use almost daily (like DVDProfiler and Firefox), I would have no qualms ponying up the money to show my support to the developers and my interest in continuing to better the product.

While there are similar products to Firefox out there (the newer IE, for example), there's really nothing that I know of that has the same features of DVDProfiler.

C_Fletch 05-30-07 05:12 PM

I give it a big thumbs down. Just remember people that EVERY function is unavailable once you upgrade to 3.0 or higher. I see there are plenty of people speaking up on how they ponied up their $30 without pause, I just thought I'd give my 2 cents too.

Huh?

C_Fletch 05-30-07 07:48 PM

Ok, not every function but everyone that really matters besides being able to sort your collection which is absolutely worthless. Sorting is not a feature nor function beyond what should already be there. I cannot do anything with this new program. It is worthless. I cannot even evaluate it as it appears to be VERY different than the previous version. I do not like it. The user interface is horrid when trying to organize the seperate windows. You cannot save a layout nor revert back to a previous one. I spent way to long trying, and I mean, trying to get the windows to lay in a somewhat reasonable layout. It was soooooo frustrating that I do not want to bother any further.

Whatever, that's my 2 cents, like em or hate em. Im moving on. You can all decide for youself. Good luck.

Sorry, but what is the procedure to see the titles in my collection that have UPC errors? When I first uploaded from my backup it popped up a message saying that I had something like 29 unresolved UPC errors. How do I pull up a list of those 29?

Select the COLLECTION dropdown menu then FLAGS --> LOAD SET. This should open a folder with a file called "UnconvertedUPC'S.LST" - double click this and all the faulty UPC error entries should now be flagged

I had 77 UPC errors flagged. How do we fix them?
