Re: All SAW editions
Oh, haven't been here for a while... Xage, I see the Saw collection is growing bigger little by little... Very nice!
Haven't been buying Saws for some time, but now I gave my own collection a second start, so wait till I post some pics!

Re: All SAW editions
So happy I found this thread, it seems to be the one to ask in. I just picked up the Walmart 5 Disc Unrated Collector's Set and was disappointed to find it is stripped of extras and in the case of Saw III, is not the version it says it is on the cover. Now, for someone who is trying to find the definitive discs (definitive defined as preferred cut (directors, unrated, longest?) and all (or most) extras) what versions should I pick up? I've skimmed thru this thread and not really found an answer. I would prefer Blu-ray, but it looks like the Blu-ray's are lacking extras or non-preferred cut's. I have only been able to research the first 3 so far and it looks like I want the 2 disc special editions found here: Saw: Unrated, Saw II: Unrated and Saw III: Director's Cut.
I think Amazon may have some incorrect images making it all the more confusing. Do those look like the one's I want? What about 4 and 5?

Re: All SAW editions
Yeah, they sure don't make it easy to just go out and easily buy the best versions.
I have:
The director's cut of the first one on DVD.
The first and second on blu-ray.
The first 3 movies in the box set with that puppet head.
I haven't even bothered figuring out which ones to keep and I guess the director's cut of the first one is shorter than the theatrical version. Up till now, I thought the uncut ones were just the theatrical with more gore.
Easiest choice for me is to just get the blu-rays, I guess.
edit: OK, so on the first one, the uncut version has the extra gore but a couple scenes cut from it. What a confusing mess.

You are not missing any extras on IV or V, there were no 2-disc editions. Theoretically, you are not missing any extras on III either; there was a Target Exclusive 2-disc for the version in the Wal-Mart set (with three additional features, which are widely available on the Saw III Blu-Ray) and a 2-disc Director's Cut DVD. The standard single-disc "uncut" theatrical DVD, however, is the one in the Wal-Mart set.
So: If you buy the 2-disc Uncut Saw and the 2-disc Saw II, you will have everything relating to the preferred cuts. If you are a completist, you will also want to get the Saw theatrical (either BD or DVD) for the alternate commentary/cut of the film, Saw II theatrical (DVD only) for the alternate bonus features/cut of the film, Saw III (either BD or DVD) for the three remaining extras from the Target Exclusive DVD, and and the 2-Disc Director's Cut of Saw III (DVD only) for the alternate bonus features/cut of the film.

Thanks! The completist that I am, I just spent too much money! I wrote off the Saw series a while ago, but have recently rediscovered it and now I wan't to consume all I can. I even bought the video game! I think I wrote it off as just another torture porn entry, I'm happy to see as it has developed that it is more intelligent than just torture porn.

Re: All SAW editions
It's pretty ironic because I actually have all the blu's except the first one. I didn't think it was the unrated cut that I have on DVD so if they include SAW 1 on Blu I'm good to go.
