Do the screwed up disc 2's say disc 1 on them or disc 2?

I live in the USA and just purchased this from Best Buy. They had 20+ copies and almost all of them sounded like they had floaters inside. I chose one that didn't sound like it had a floater, but my disc 1 was loose when I opened the steelbook. Luckily, it doesn't look like there's any damage, but I just wanted to warn you guys to check for floaters before you buy. It rang up 17.99 instead of 19.99 at my BB too. I didn't think it was on sale, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I really don't understand the packaging - the back makes no mention there is both cuts of the film - it just states 'unrated'

Well i hope they do like the Superman tin set last year and offer us to replace the discs!

I just hope MGM at leasts acknowledges this problem soon. I know we don't count much in the grand DVD sales scheme but i think Canada buys alot of DVDs!

Disc 1 is Theatrical R rated
Disc 2 is Unrated or X Rated Cut

In Canada, both discs are Disc 1 with different artwork. Whoever screwed this up on the creation end need to be fired...

I'm so glad I rented this with one of my free rents from work instead of buying it!!

Indeed we do, they’ll just have to head over to my DVD Spending for proof. It’s fu*king cold in the winter & it’s too hot for us canucks in the summer so It’s DVDs all year round.

So, nateman241, I take it you also ended up with two disc 1's (even though one had the disc 2 label)?

that's so weird, eventhough i already had it i just picked one up at BB to look and sure enough it was a floater. another i picked up was fine, but weird it would happen in two different locations.

Great... I have this on order from CH. Guess I'll pray for no floaters...

Scott - Not that weird, it could be a bad packaging design... It's certainly happened before. The #'d Cannibal Holocaust release is a good example, it seems like almost everyone got a floater when that one came out. IIRC, the 3 disc King Kong that was on sale at BB a few weeks back had the same issue.

Funny, every time I hear that term "floater", I think of a gross little piece of fecal matter hanging out in your dvd case.

So, is everyone's Robocop ringing up $17.99 at Best Buy?

I can post screencaps of the release if you want - but not from the unrated cut (at least not this - but the Criterion edition)

i think someone said in Bargains that they didn't have it or "Serenity". might hold true nationally. i kinda find "Serenity" hard to believe as they've had most the re-releases/extended like "King Kong", but i haven't checked mine so it could be ymmv.

Yeah if you have the time post the criterion vs. steelbook. I can do Trilogy vs. Steelbook if you want.

My Best Buy didn't have it. They had a $19.99 tag though advertising a movie that wasn't even on the shelf. Tisk, tisk.

My Best Buy had only about 4 or 5 left and the target next to the best buy didn't have any.

Picked min up at the Hamilton Place Best Buy in Chattanooga, TN at the price of 19.99

That's got to be the worst price I've had the displeasure of paying. But considering I've made 100's from the Criterion release I am not to worried.

They had several copies left and it appeared that I was the first to ask for it as well as the first one to take one. And that was at 5:30PM. I tried FYE in the mall first but they did not get any copies in. I also called Circuit City and they were clueless like usual. I don't know why I even bother with them.

Just got mine at Best Buy in Alberta canada and it has a screwed up 2nd disc. I'm going to return it and order from Amazon.com but not before posting captures and watching the theatrical cut.

I'm relieved and concerned that I was far from the only one to be burned by this Canadian foul-up when I got it last week twice.

Top: R1 Trilogy
Bottom: R1 New Steelbook Anniversary

This tells us for sure that the new disc has been properly colour corrected and restored. The colour matches the approved transfer on the Criterion. PLUS: Look at that aweful contrast boosting and clipping on the Trilogy disc.
