as much as i would love to show this to my children- if and when i ever have any, i know that they would have no clue as to who elton john and chryel ladd are. I will still make them watch it-assuming i ever have kids. I guess it isnt like i had any clue who the guest stars were, i was like 4 or 5 years old.

thats the thing, if i ever have kids, i would be exposing them to def leppard, beastie boys, inxs, jon bon jovi.elvis costello, en vogue, boyz 2 men, aretha fanklin, the ramones, public enemy, van halen, zz top etc. I was an 80s child and while i watched sesame street and the muppets in the late 70s when i was 4 or 5 years old, the bulk of my memories are of the 80s.

and i dont think that the doors, janis joplin, jimi hendrix(my fave 70s) did the muppets because they were all dead before the muppets hit the air. but hell yeah they will watch the muppets(assuming i ever have kids)

Dude, it doesn't matter. I had more fun watching season one with my two year old daughter than any other DVDs(DuckTales is probably a tie though). She loves it. She doesn't care who the guest stars are. It's all about the muppets. The guests are for the adult viewers. Do you really think their interest would be higher if the guests were Matt Damon, Linkin Park or Fergie? No, they want to see Kermit and Piggy.

1. Muppets Tonight was more "star of the week" than content..
2. now there are more dedicated cable channels were Muppets could thrive..
3. It was to long ago for me to remember but I think MT was in prime time.. thats a no..no.. put it from 6pm - 8pm... or Sat. & Sun. say noonish...

so... there's no reduced price of Season One to go along with the release of Season two??

edit: actually I didn't see this on Best Buy weekly ad, but it must have been there (I just didn't notice) that both can be had forty bucks.

I don't think it was in the ad. I noticed it online and ordered it for in-store pickup thinking it was an "online-only" thing, but when I got to the store I noticed they did have it advertised in-store as well.

My BB didn't have the deal posted in-store, but I printed out the online offer and they honored it even though they had no idea this was going on. $20/season is a great deal!

This is awesome

I am currently on Disk 3. These shows are better than S1.

I barely remember seeing some of these when I was younger. It is amazing how much I appreciate some of the characters more now that I am older (like Sam the Eagle, Statler & Waldorf, etc).

This show is pure gold. Even episodes that wouldn't be immediately obvious (such as Rudolph Nureyev). Favs so far are the Milton Berle (the banter with Statler & Waldorf was awesome), Edgar Bergen, Steve Martin, & Elton John. All of the shows are great.

I will be buying copies as gifts for my friends who have kids. Must brainwa....err...properly introduce the new generation to the muppets.

This set is a great value.

Picked this up at Sams since they had the fuzzy cover and this season really is a lot better than the first one. I will start watching thinking I'm only going to watch one episode and I end up finishing the whole disc. Can't wait to complete this series on DVD.

i think disney is working to get the muppets back in the lime light.

the wizard of oz movie, pizza hut and ford hybrid commercial, snl appearance, and just last week an appearance on america's got talent.

i think they just want to find a good home for them, and at this point they don't have anything for ABC to run with

I know they were trying to do an America's Next Muppet show, but I'm not sure what came of that.
