DVD Talk Limited Edition
Lets see...I
1. Double or even triple dip even if I don't intend on watching all the new special features
2. Keep extra DVD cases on hand. If the slightest look of wear and tear appears on the case, I switch it.
3. Don't let certain friends borrow movies (the ones who treat your DVDs like shit, we all have them)
4. Keep our DVDs in perfect alphabetical on the shelf, with seperate bookcases for TV and movies
5. Refuse to buy a movie in fullscreen (unless no widescreen exists)
6. ALWAYS must get the super duper special edition, even if you have to hunt it down or buy online (Munich, United 93, etc)
7. I have double dipped all New Line Cinema titles that were once released in snappers and then keepcases. (I am not proud of this one lol)
8. Every week you check this board to find out which new releases have exclusives at certain stores.
9. You notice certain treads in packaging. (for example, Fox usually always has the keep cases with the 2 ridges on the side of the open panel...I can tell which Paramount catalog titles come with inserts vs. ones that don't anymore.)
10. Refuse to buy combo discs regardless of how much money I save because I like to have each movie in it's own case
...I am a loser (Now what to watch tonight...)

- Your wife says she wishes DVDTalk would shut down and now you are considering divorce
- Black Friday it your favorite day of the year
- You have purposely deleted your collection from DVDAficionado just so that you can add it again
- Stare at your humongous collection for 5 minutes at least 3 times a day
- As a matter of fact that is the first thing you do when you get home, stare at it
- Throw the DVDs on the floor so that you can do a Scrooge McDuck and rub the DVDs against your body
- Arrange your collection at least 3 times per month , by director, genre, alphabetic, actors, moods, flavour of the month, etc.
- Separate the wife's collection because you can not stand seeing your "Godfather" collection next to "The Notebook"
- You actually had more fun looking for the perfect deal than watching the movie.
- As a matter of fact you don't even own a DVD player just collecting for the future upgrade
- You not only organize the DVDs at a store but start giving recommendations to fellow consumers there just to realize an hour later that you do not work there
- You go to the store and start grabbing as many titles that catch your eye as possible. Spend an hour deciding what to get just to leave everything behind.
-Then you go to another store because you didn't fulfill the buy of the day
-You know your local BigLots, Ross, etc shipment schedule so that you can be there the first day they put the DVDs out
- Every time you travel you visit the local BigLots because you know each one carries different titles
- You find a limited edition DVD you already own, but buy it anyways because you can not stand leaving behind for so cheap

I realized just how obsessive I'd become when I adamantly refused to buy Toy Story in a Blu-ray case because no Toy Story 2 in Blu-ray case was readily available and I intended to get the $10 discount for buying both together. All or nothin'!

When you go to get new releases every tuesday, then when the very rare time you don't go your week is ruined.
When your friends look at your collection and only dream of having that many DVD's.
When people say i just rent DVD's & you have a temper tantrup.
When DVD's is more important than your family.

- You put yourself on the Mailing Lists of every Automobile Dealer within a 20 mile radius of your house so you can get their Fliers offering Free Targhee and Wally Cards (Which you use to get what else? MORE DVDS!)

- If you spot someone in a Flea Market selling Bootlegs you BEELINE for the ATM, withdraw as mush money as you can and GET EM WHILE THE GETTIN'S GOOD!

You know you're a DVD addict when. . .
--You sell perfectly good discs because the case/box has a defect/rip/tear that only you notice. And then take the money from the sale to buy the same discs again.
--You check the DVD Bargains thread at least six times daily.
--Seriously consider arranging your collection by case color.
--When you pat yourself on the back for NOT buying a DVD during a trip to Wal-Mart.
--You start considering spending all your grocery money on DVDs in an effort to lose weight.
--You need new shoes and clothes, but you spend the money on the latest Deep Discount sale instead.
--In fact, forget the age-old concept of women's shoe envy. DVD envy is where it's at. I see someone with a 5,000 title collection and I'm in awe.
--You wish Amazon would combine all of their international websites to save you time on ordering.

While entering your collection into DVD Profiler recently after going without a program since DVDspot died, you find out that your collection has increased from 700 to almost 1300...
...you then jump onto Amazon and figure out the best way to maximize $30 on Blu-Rays...
...you decide that the best way is by replacing DVDs you've never watched with their BR releases that you likely won't be watching anytime soon either.

This morning on the drive to work, I noticed the vehicle in front of me had a vanity license plate that read "LUVDVD"..... unless it means something else, which I can't think of, I would say this qualifies under this thread: spending the money for a vanity plate to announce to the world that you love dvds

Some stuff nobody really does, but this stuff I have really done!
Another thing I've been known to do: Buy valuable DVDs that I really might not care for JUST BECAUSE they are cheap. I've done this a bunch at Big Lots and I did this with Alf (all four seasons for 28). I got the replacement disc from Lionsgate thinking mine was probably defective. I watched the replacement disc and found I really don't like this show AT ALL.
I have a friend who is active on this board who told me long ago he HATED What about Bob. I looked at his Profiler some time ago and lo and behold --- He bought What About Bob?
I've blind bought so much TV that I will probably not really enjoy. (It's hard to pass up Who's the Boss S1 for $3), but hopefully some of these blind buys will yield some good results. In any case, if the networks and cable suddenly went dark, I would not lack for something to watch for many years to come.

At the rate I watch my DVDs, I have calculated that if Network and Cable TV went out of business and if I were to cease purchasing any additional DVDs, I would not have to resort to watching "Reruns" until the year 2022!

When you run out of wall space in your media room to put up new DVD racks or hang up shelves for them and your 6 month pregnant wife still is trying you to convert the room into a baby's room and you are saying...over my dead body!

While there are a few exceptions (and I'm not as anal about people touching my discs), generally, I don't loan out my movies. I've had discs get damaged by others when they've been borrowed, and I'd rather that not continue to be the case...

Re: You Know you are a Dvd Addict When......
You sorted everything alphabetically but haven't redone it in a couple years and the last movies at the end of the last rack start with the letters 'Sc'.
Your neighbors move out and in addition to taking in the declawed kitten they abandoned, you also snag an 8 ft tall, 4 ft wide shelf unit, forcing your wife to help you drag it all the way home, up the stairs, and to the farthest point upstairs, the theater room.
You then resort everything, taking any out that you've upgraded to Blu-ray for a separate pile on the floor. The only thing you manage to accomplish with this new shelf is to get the rest of the 'S' movies, onto a shelf. T-Z remain on the floor.
This is in addition to 23 binders that each hold over 200 movies and you have 7 empty binders you bought on sale a month ago because you know you'll use them.
Where do the blu-ray movies go? Well, we managed to fit just the kid ones on the mantel above the fireplace. Some are currently on the stairs as you attempt to somehow organize them upstairs on shelves that don't yet exist. Some piles exist in the hallway and and there's also 7 piles, about 50 movies in total, behind you as you type this.
Yesterday you also picked up a piece of paper off the floor in your computer room and discovered a box set you bought about a year ago, still sealed.
Also, that Flintstones box set you bought for Christmas, Christmas of 2008, is still sitting under the dresser in the bedroom where it went to, for one reason or another, after you opened it. Please move it.
Something else you need to do is get a list of all the volumes/titles/season numbers of the series of movies you've bought on your phone because when you go to the store and see on of those on sale, you've not always been sure if you own that one or not.
One last thing, remember that tape you bought at a flea market, the one of Elvira hosting some movie that you were going to put onto DVD? I'll admit, you have done a lot of the things that are only on VHS at this point but do you know how long that's been sitting there? Let's look at the very top, and newest item in that pile. It's a game you bought when it came out, Sims 2: University.
Do you know when that came out? February 2005. You bought that movie during a summer, which would push it back to 2004. It's been in that spot for at least, almost 6 years. Seriously, what the hell?
