2 versions of Re-Animator re-release?

I see on DVD Planet and Amazon there are 2 versions listed. I find this odd as the other one has no description at all. One says Limited Edition, but don't know what the other one is or could be or if it is just a mistake?
Does anyone know?

The copy that arrived at my Best Buy has a syringe highlighter extra. I don't know if this makes it limited, or not.

Yes, the limited edition is numbered and comes with the syringe highlighter. Besides that, they are exactly the same.

DDD has one listed as "widescreen" and one as "fullscreen". Is it safe to assume the "widescreen" one will be the limited edition? I didn't even think they would make this in fullscreen.

Wasn't the original release an open matte release which they turned into a widescreen-looking picture by doing something funky with the subtitle stream?

I seem to recall that it looked widescreen when I played it, but would go full-screen/open matte when I fast-forwarded. Somebody told me that the black bars at the top and bottom of the picture were encoded as subtitle bit-maps!

DeepDiscount seems to have a listing for both "Widescreen" and a "Fullscreen" versions of the re-release.

Re-Animator (Widescreen)

Re-Animator (Full Screen)

Maybe those are the 2 different versions?

*EDIT* JackBurton beat me to it.

I can't recall that happening on the original but it was like that on Bride Of The Reanimator, i wish more films would offer open matte as a dvd option if they are just going to widescreen rigg it like that (otherwise Animorphic though)

What's up with this release? Wasn't a 2-disc version released within the last couple of years? I think that one was from Elite.

I think the package I saw at my store has two discs along with the syringe collectible. I only glanced at it, so I could be wrong.

Yeah. DVD Talk's Review goes through the differences between the two.

I could easily be confusing the two. And I agree, if animorphic isn't an option, give us this.

I can't believe that they'd release a fullscreen version of this, but apparently I accidently ordered it! Now I have to go through the trouble of exchanging it. DAMMIT!

DVDplanet has it in-stock with release of 2/06/07
http://www.dvdplanet.com/details.cfm?info=ABD015021
but Amazon says it doesn't come out till 3/20/07..and I searched by UPC code, so unless one of them is wrong, this is just confusing. Amazon's page links over to this one as well.

I saw no indication of a fullscreen option at anchor bay's website, I'm guessing this is a goofy listing.

This new version is supposed to come with a Collectible Slip-Cover right?
Will this be in any Brick and Mortar stores?

I don't think it was accidental --did you order it from Deep Discount?
When I preordered it at DD, it was listed as Reanimator LE -- that's the one I ordered, figuring it was widescreen.

Within the last couple of weeks, the listing for "Reanimator LE" was replaced by 2 new listings for "Reanimator WS" and "Reanimator FS".

DD filled my order with a "Reanimator FS" without checking with me. I'm sure it's just an automated process, but it would have been nice to get an email asking with version I wanted. Now I'll have to send the foolscreen version back, which is a pain in the ass....

Here is something interesting:

Deep Discount DVD shows the following:
Reanimator widescreen
UPC: 013131502190
Item Number: ABD015021
DVD Empire also shows this as Widescreen, but with different art cover that does not include the green highlighter (West is holding a test tube):
http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...or=1#topoftabs

DD shows
Reanimator fullscreen
UPC: 013131485196
Item Number: ABD014851
DVD Empire shows this as Widescreen, with the limited green highlighter.

So I'm hoping DVD Empire is correct and DD is wrong in their descriptions.

I don't think there's a fullscreen version with a syringe:
Diabolik only shows the one (widescreen) and they are usually pretty accurate in their info, since they are more specialized in the titles they sell.

Unfortunately, even if the syringe version is widescreen - DDD's item number might have been screwed up and you might still get the older FS version and you'll have to return & reorder, etc.

Well i preordered the LE over a month ago from DD. And got it today. Well all i can say is that im super pissed. It is the version that has the cover with him holding the test tub. No special case and no pen. I'll be sending this shit back. Im so tried of getting the wrong items from companies, i don't even want to order from DD again.

I received mine from DVDPlanet, the one that said FS in the listing, and it is the special packaging with widescreen, so it is just a goofy listing.

I don't think their is a 'fullscreen'(open matte in this case) version. AB hasn't done WS/FS transfers in a few years it seems. And their is no open-matte dvd release of Re-animator in R1. And I can't find any 'fs' listing for the film besides DD. So i'm sure it's all just a mix up in listing information.

Though just to be safe, I did put in an order through the 'WS' listing that lists all the features and such

The art that DVD Empire is showing, if anyone is wondering, is the cover art inside the highlighter box. The highlighter box is outer packaging, and the DVD is in a standard case inside. I guess that means the 500,000 "Limited Edition" version is just the version with the highlighter and not the actual 2-disc set itself, since DVD Empire is selling the two versions separately.

I suppose I'd better order it then...

So has anyone who ordered from DDD recieved the Limited (highlighter) Version? If so, which one (upc, etc.) did you order? Thanks.

Is the box sturdy enough to keep on the shelf with other DVDs or once you open it it is pretty much done? And can you keep the pen in the box with the DVD (meaning not take it out)?

500,000? That's all? Better rush out and buy it before they're all gone!

By the way, I saw this in the store today and I saw no numbering on the box. It does have a 'limited edition' sticker on the front, but no numbering at all to indicate how many of them there are.
