By the way, I saw this in the store today and I saw no numbering on the box. It does have a 'limited edition' sticker on the front, but no numbering at all to indicate how many of them there are.
I'm pretty sure 500,000 is what the press release said.

The box is sturdy enough to keep on the shelf-- it's a cardboard box about the size of 2 DVD cases. You'll definitely want to keep it, as there is a window on the front thru which you can see the reanimator pen.

You can keep the pen in the box with the DVD as there is a separate compartment for the pen. Great design on Anchor Bay's part.

Also, the pen/highlighter version is limited to 50,000 copies, not half a million!

I ordered the "Widescreen" Edition (UPC 013131502190) from DeepDiscount. It arrived today. It was the non-Limited edition without the highlighter/packaging.

Thanks for fucking me over, DeepDiscount.

So, since there's apparently no actual "Fullscreen" release, does that mean that what's listed at DD under that name is the actual Limited Edition? (Not that it matters, since I'm probably going to just return this for a refund and pick the LE up from Best Buy.)

Basically, if you want the Limited Edition: Do not order the "Widescreen" edition from DeepDiscount!

I'll probably pick up my copy at bestbuy just to make sure I get what I want.

I checked the computer at work, and each Best Buy store received about a dozen copies each, plus, many stores broke street date on this title.

I wonder what the Phantasm packaging will look like.

Sorry you got screwed, but thanks for the info. I picked up a copy of the LE at best buy. They only had 3 copies in stock at my store...

I ordered the FS version on accident from DVDPlanet and got the WS Limited edition with pen, so I guess that is the trick to getting the good version.

Really, I should have been more careful and looked into the UPC codes before I placed my pre-order, but I didn't know that a) they'd be releasing non-Limited editions concurrently with the LE's (there's usually at least some gap between releases) and b) the Fullscreen version didn't actually exist. There were plenty of copies at my Best Buy, so it's more just an annoyance then a huge deal.

The pen is worthless to me, so I don't mind not getting that version.

i can't understand why Anchor Bay put out two versions simultaneously and caused such confusion. i got the wrong one from DVD Planet as well , but got the right one from BB

also, what exactly is the pen, a bright green highlighter, regular pen? i don't want to take it out and fuss with it.

I picked up the last LE copy with highlighter from a local Best Buy. I thought I pre-ordered this version from DeepDiscount when I ordered the widescreen version from them. Apparently, at least according to others, I will be getting the non-LE version if it ever arrives (I received a shipping notice about a week and half ago and it still has not arrived). When it does arrive, it will be going back to them for a refund.

I got my standard edition in the mail today and must say I love the packaging! The cover of the case itself uses the alternate full poster art, instead of the zoomed in West face on the LE outer-case. And an insert is actually included which includes the famous original Re-animator poster that's been used on every other dvd/home video release. Meanwhile, disc 2 includes the gruesome cartoonish cool artwork of West with syringe, holding Hills head. This art was used on the Elite laserdisc release, and it's nice to see it included.

And unlike the review states,it appears the extra features(minus commentary) are closed captioned. I skimmed thorugh the documentary and some interviews and captions showed up when turned on. The tv spots and trailer are even captioned! So for those who need them, the disc is worth it over the Elite release which offered nothing in that department.

The only thing missing that I wish were included is the original mono mix. I sure hope the remix is not too amped up and fake sounding. I'll give it a whirl sometime and see what I think of it.

So just to be clear, is the LE (with highlighter) version's UPC this number: 013131485196 ?
If it is, then according to DD's website info you would want to order the full screen listing they have if you plan to purchase it from them. Thanks for the help everyone.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I ordered the full screen off of DD and my e-mail confirmation lists it as the LE version w/ highlighter. Funny how DD hasn't fixed this. It is very misleading.
