It wasn't until I bought the disk and opened it that I realized it had both versions of the movie. I was thrilled since I never bought the first release. I have to say that I like a few of the new scenes and really could live without some of the others. It's not the best extended cut ever but it's nice to see a different version.

Okay, so I never got into the movie at all from watching it on HBO... but considering there are substantially lengthy documentaries about the history of the comic book, the great Jack Kirby & the making of the film as well as a ticket to the sequel and a better version of the film... I'm just gonna have to pick this up finally.

I was going to skip out on this release since I own the Wal-Mart & Target bonus discs that came with the first release (everything's been ported over to this Extended Cut). But the documentaries on the FF & Kirby have me sold. Definately gonna double-dip now.

I liked the movie the first time around....didn't love it, but liked it much more than most people I talked to about it. This time around, with the extended cut, I think I am finally starting to love this movie. It really felt like a better movie with the extended cut.
Why they released the edited version to the theaters is beyond me.

I liked the extended cut much more, but the one thing that bothered me were the scenes between Reed and Sue at the planatarium and by the river. They played those scenes back to back and they were essentally the same and seemed akward when edited together.

I didn't care much for the movie - but I dug the documentaries on both the FF comic book and Jack Kirby. Each at an hour long, and each interviewing all the major players in the comic book world (except for John Byrne, who must still be bitter about it), they were easily worth the $16 I spent on it - the movie's the extra in this case.

I too was pleasantly surprised to find a ticket to the sequel in my copy of the Extended Edition. After watching the new version of the film and the extras I highly recommend a purchase if you like comic book-based movies that don't dwell on heroes with internal conflict and crises. I haven't watched the theatrical version yet, but I can't believe the negative reviews that are floating around out there.

I just finished watching the 97 minute documentary on this DVD over the weekend and it's one of the best "making of" features I have seen. It covered pretty much all the characters and almost every area of production. Getting an extended cut of the movie, a free ticket and this documentary is totally worth the 16-19 bucks for this DVD.

the review didn't mention anything about DTS, that's why i wondered.
