I don't have the HD-DVD yet, but here is a scan of the back.

the reviewers don't always get their screener copies prior to release, but i am sure they won't have a problem if you bought it tomorrow and sent it to them.

Well, if I have bought the DVD then at that point there's not much reason to read an advance review of it, is there?

Anyway, the reviews for the other major DVD releases tomorrow (Pursuit of Happyness, Curse of the Golden Flower, Happy Feet, Turistas) have been up for days if not weeks...
(If DVDTalk wasn't sent an advanced screener for CoM, we got dissed)

Anyone know if Costco has this, and if so for how much?

EDIT: Nevermind. More at Costco than it is anywhere else.

I can't speak for DVDTalk but on the site I review for it depends on the studio. Some send us copies weeks in advance while others might send them the week of the release or even after. Not to mention it also depends on the reviewer's current workload. Bottomline is that you can't always fault the reviewer/site for not posting reviews prior to the release date.

And it ain't the reviewer/site's problem if you can't wait and you absolutely have to have the DVD on the day it gets released.

That said, I'd post a link to my review but since it's in French, I doubt it would help anyone here.

Forgive this rather obvious question but do I understand correctly that I can buy HD-DVD version although I don't have a HD player and still watch the movie in SD on my DVD player? Or is it just the extras that are SD? I don't have a HD player but may eventually get one.

Yes, its a "Combo" disc. One side of the disc is HD DVD and the other side is SD DVD. Combo discs don't seem to be very well recieved by the HD DVD crowd b/c they drive up the price, but they can eliminate a potential double dip for someone like you who may upgrade to HD later down the road.

Does anyone know if all of the extras appear on both the HD side and SD side?
(excluding the U-Control stuff, which I know is HD exclusive)

Good review, thanks for the link. Looks like the extras appear on both sides as I hoped. Although it's a bit of a shame that the extras are in SD on the HD side.

I thought all of the HD-DVD Combo discs were like that until I found out that most of the extras for The Departed are on the HD-DVD side only.

Yeah, that's what I figured, but I was still a bit disappointed. I decided to pass on the HD-DVD because I really wanted to see the extras (I don't have an HD-DVD player yet).
