Here in Canada, I bought the set when originally released, but sold it along with other titles so I could get a box set of something a few years ago. However I got the 3 disc set again recently when it was on sale in late December, and despite the bilingual disc labels, it featured the corrected versions. The original release in Canada featured French on the case but the discs were American - the updated ones were Canadian made. This new version did not have the booklet the original had.

Now I kinda wish mine would have had the insert. That sounds halfway interesting. They should have left that in them.

Wow, I had no idea Universal would still be doing disc replacement for the BTTF set four or so years after the set first came out. I happened upon an older, incorrect set, and thought I was just going to be stuck with them - but sure enough, called today and had my mailer sent out.

Thanks for the heads up that they were still accepting them!

Well, I checked my discs, and no surprise, they are going back. Not just because the set was from the first printing, and there is no "V2" on either #2 or #3, but I put the discs in, and based on the screen captures alone, they are both obviously incorrect. I will be calling the numbers tomorrow provided by you guys on this website. I just want to express my gratitude that because a board like this exists, I just saved myself having to fork over $20+, and more importantly, knowing they will be the correct discs since Universal is taking care of this themselves. To think they are still doing this disc replacement four years later is quite shocking - you don't see many companies providing such amazing customer service anymore - you just don't! Bravo to this board, and to Universal Home Video.

Oh yeah, one last thing, I did get the insert booklet with my original set. It is just as the previous post described. First page is a promo description of the three films (like what you would read on the back of a DVD for film description) then the next three pages are regarding the bonus features for each film. Then one page with chapter selections for all three films. The next four our production notes, and the back cover is the film credits. Hope this helps.

Does this blunder only affect the widescreen version or does it affect the full screen version too? I bought this set a while back from wal-mart and all they had was full screen so i settled for that cause it was such a low price. The thing is that neither one of the disc says ver. 2. Does anybody know?

When I called to get my return mailer, the representative I spoke with said it only affected the Widescreen version.

yes, the fullscreen copy is flawed out the gate, and no way to fix it without replacing it with a widescreen copy. no worries...however you could call and see if they will send you a mailer....you might at least get widescreen copies of the later 2 films...

Anyone have any idea how long the turnaround is when you send your discs in? I sent mine in probably 3 weeks ago. I just want to know how much longer I should expect to wait. I imagine they take their sweet time.

Thank you, sir. My apologies for not back-tracking in the thread to look for the answer.

It's now been about a month for me. Maybe longer. Just get nervous not having a tracking number, or anything. Although I do have the phone number.

As I understand it, the blunder was that they re-cropped the fullscreen version for the widescreen version. This was not a problem on most of the shots, because they were opened up to fullscreen, but all of the effects shots had been hard-matted at 1.85 (because they don't want to spend the extra money to do the effects in 1.33), so those shots were pan-and-scanned in the fullscreen version and, thus, when they were cropped, it resulted in poor framing.

So, my understanding is, fullscreen would not be affected.

Mine took about 3 weeks, maybe 4. They sent each disc in its own separate shrink-wrapped jewel case.
