Juliane Lorenz completes documentary film on “Berlin Alexanderplatz Remastered”

When the Fassbinder Team met in the New Year, Juliane Lorenz had a beautiful surprise in stock for us: She showed us her just finished 35-minute documentary film „Observations during the restoration of Berlin Alexanderplatz“ -- to be included as extra material in the DVD edition that is to be released in Germany in February. (Releases in English speaking countries to be announced later.) All major participants in this technically challenging and historically significant endeavor explain the intricacies of our project. In the end, the regular non-specialist (i.e. most of us) will understand what makes “Berlin Alexanderplatz Remastered” so special. Just as a reminder for those who forgot: “Berlin Alexanderplatz Remastered” will have its premiere on this year’s Berlinale; ... the countdown is on.

A SE of the film is to be released in France later this year as well!

And I don't know if this qualifies as rumor or confirmed upcoming release, but word is that Criterion will be releasing "Berlin Alexanderplatz" this year.

As of right now it definitely is a rumor! Unfortunately!
