What is with these studios and the crappy cover artwork they come up with? Where is the respect for the original movie? Even new art elements designed to honor the spirit of the original movie art would work.
This cover doesnt even portray what the movie is really like to someone who has not seen it.

Revell or someone good at printing covers: Will you send me one the final covers if I pay for the postage and a little extra for the work? I can't print covers.

Mao (or anyone), is there anywhere online that officially confirms Night of the Comet as widescreen? A lot of sites that are selling this are listing it at Fullscreen only...has me worried, just wanted to check on it.

I just found the video for NOTC in a thrift store yesterday. I hadn't seen this movie since I saw it in the theaters back in 1984. Let's just say I don't plan on adding this movie (when it's out on DVD) to my collection any time soon. I hate to say it, but it's pretty lame!
But at least I'll be able to get about $15 for the video on eBay - as long as I get it sold before March 6th!

Now that the DVD has been announced, I doubt you'll get 15 for it. There's a few auctions up for the VHS on ebay, and the one that ends in 2 hours only has 1 bid, and it's at 4.99, then another one is only at 3.99.

Only a serious collector would even buy the VHS now and would probably not want to pay more than $5 for it.Maybe $15 if it were factory sealed.
I too have been making a custom for this but waiting to see what the specs are.I haven't even added screen caps yet since we don't yet know if it is WS or FS.
I have the HD capture so no matter what ratio it is I will be able to get some nice ones.I just don't want to add WS shots if the DVD ends up being FS I have to wonder, who comes up with these shitty ass designs sometimes
Is it that the artists sucks or that they just tell them to make a half ass design so they can just put something?

This is from a review at Amazon. Take it for what it's worth. But good God I hope this is not true.

Alright, I have the official information on this release. I got my info right from the jerks that are releasing this DVD. There are absolutely NO extras. It IS a complete barebones disc. Not even a trailer. And now comes the really bad news...FULLSCREEN! No widescreen option. The movie was filmed in widescreen, but whatever. The audio is MONO! They put it in two channels and call it Dolby Digital 2.0, but it's actually in mono. I cannot believe how much of a disappointment this release is. One of the main actresses of this film tried to get the rights to release this herself and she had great plans to give it the release it deserved. She wanted it to be a release made for the fans. MGM ended up getting it instead. This should give you a good idea of how much they DON'T care.
I guess we should be grateful that it's being released at all. I hope the quality is better than the many bootleg DVDs that have been floating around.
And of course we get to have this DVD with the laughable cover, with the terrible new tagline and superimposed shopping bags on the girls' arms. People that are new to the movie will see this cover and have the wrong idea of what the movie is really about. Since this is one of my all-time favorite movies, I'm so bummed out about this release that I want to cry. What a letdown!

It's doubly lame because MGM used to love cult classics and treat them with respect, since that was kind of their bread and butter. If Fox kills that aspect of their DVD production, it will be very sad.

Also, I brought up the suggestion made by someone in this thread that she record a commentary herself and she responded: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0549526/b...73048#67373048

The review/"scoop" reminds me of the false Universal lawyer who said that posted at a miami vice forum that "any talk of a new dvd will result in a lawsuit." In fact, the person was a seller of DVD's made from VHS copies.
So I bet this is a guy who wants to keep up his end of the Ebay deal until release day.

and its pretty free for her. she should already have a wav recording device on her computer, but maybe she will need a mic for 10 bucks if she doesnt have one. im sure fans of the hers could host the file, or there are many free sites she can upload it to, like megaupload.com etc.
