Unfortunately, though they've mentioned UMD, there's been no mention of a Blu Ray version...hopefully that will be cleared up when it's officially announced. And also, aside from Click, Sony isn't exactly known for including all the special features (and Click was only 90-something minutes with less than an hour's worth of special features, and this was on a BD-50 disc). Casino Royale is two and a half hours long and will likely have pretty in-depth features (judging by the other Bond special editions).

Hopefully this is a title where Sony will finally work things out and get the film looking great with all the SD special features...if they can't do it right for this title, then there's a serious problem.

I don't usually buy new releases, but I just might for this if the price and specs are good.

My guess is they're waiting to release the Blu-Ray edition around the time they release the rest of the Bond library on Blu-Ray.

Jeez, he even uses a Blu-Ray disc in the movie, and they aren't going to release it on that? (not that I really care, but I do love the quick turnaround).

Yeah, I find it funny everyone is talking about a BD release and there is no mention of that in the original post. It would be absurd for Sony not to release this as it would probably help BD sales.

That doesn't sound like a lot of features. And that "Bond Girls Are Forever" featurette sounds familiar. Wasn't that included on a bonus DVD with Die Another Day at Best Buy?

Regardless, Sony better do this one proud on Blu-ray. It's one of the main reasons I went format neutral and bought a PS3.

I enjoyed this movie too, but the amount of onscreen Sony plugs was absolutely atrocious, more than I've ever noticed in any movie I've seen before. You could make a drinking game out of every time you see a Sony product turned toward the camera in this movie. Computers, cell phones, GPS, DVD's... I'm surprised Bond didn't have the Sony logo tattooed across his chest. In the theatre I was in, some people actually started laughing about it it was happening so much. Very distracting.

That said, I never gave a damn about a blonde James Bond, as long as he was believeable. I think Craig pulled it off, so I'll be buying the movie.

It was. Hopefully, this is a new feature and not throwing random features onto a DVD that have nothing important to do with the film.

If it was all-new wouldn't they re-title it? Come on, you know it's gonna be the same thing that's already on the exclusive bonus disc. If anything's different, it will be a shortened version. Sony is the worst major studio for DVD for a reason.

however that doc was owned by mgm, and assume it would have went over with the rest of the franchise with FOX

Isn't that pretty similar to the second poster art? I would have preferred the first poster art, however.

Is there only a 2-disc set being release? Kudos to Sony for doing so. Less versions, the better.

I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!

That's the International poster style. I think the U.S. poster is better also. They did the same thing with DAD.

I'm not sure what you guys are saying is the "original" poster art, as I've seen at least 7 different posters. All of them were variations of the same, except for the first one that I saw:

http://ia.ec.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/13/95/60/10m.jpg

This is my favorite poster this year and I have it hanging in my office.

As for a blu-Ray release:

LAS VEGAS, CES, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) President David Bishop today announced, as part of the company's first quarter Blu-ray line-up, that Bond will be making his way to Blu-ray with the much anticipated release of Casino Royale on March 13. Casino Royale, starring Bond newcomer Daniel Craig, grossed more than $400 million at the box office worldwide and will debut on a 50GB dual-layer disc encoded in MPEG-4 AVC. Consumers can see even more of Craig who also stars in Layer Cake, a riveting thriller set in the U.K. underworld, when it hits Blu-ray (50GB) that same day.

Wa-hoo!!!
