Blue Underground for February
Checking out DVDAf this morning, the following titles are marked for release on February 27th:
Autopsy (1975)
City of the Living Dead (1980)
Deep Red (1975)
Don't Torture a Duckling (1972)
Inferno (1980)
Shock (1977)
No pictures or other details, but this is more information than BU's website puts out in a year. I wish they'd get their asses in gear; the internet community is their lifeblood. Anyway, don't forget Maniac and Vigilante, both due on January 30th.

Apparently it's just a limited re-release of the old Anchor Bay stuff. Nothing new. No new transfers.

Does anyone have further info? The limited release doesn't surprise me because of the sheer volume of titles for a single month...
Is BU in trouble? Their website (and online news in general) is pretty silent these days... Releases are fewer in between and their just doesn't seem to be a lot of hype anymore... I hope they're not turning into Anchor Bay or something. At least Mondo Macabro is strong as ever.

Funny that I e-mailed BU about all 3 of these titles. I begged for anamorphic versions. Maybe if enough e-mails get to them, they will get tired and actually update thier web-site. I've been holding out buying the Japan Reg. 2 version that have the best reviews. But $40 a pop, plus shipping hurts. If BU does them they should hopefully only be 14.99.
I just iwsh they would make an announcement if they will be redone or not. If there old AB junk, I'll have to hurt my wallet and buy the damn Japan one's.

That fucking website absolutely mystifies me...
A company like BU depends on the online community, don't they understand that? With each release, people somehow catch onto it ahead of time and discuss it, but anymore, people don't know exactly what they're getting until someone's order arrives or if a horror site reviews a disc. I think it's sad beyond belief that I have to depend on Amazon pre-order pages and review sites to get basic information about a BU release. These are not mainstream movies, and often big retailers, even Best Buy, seem to have trouble stocking them. The online community already contributes to the bulk of the company's sales I'm sure, but wouldn't it make so much more sense to have a frequently updated website with thorough information? I mean, I see listings on Amazon and no one has any idea what the hell they are. I see a title like the new Daughters of Darkness SE... obviously a lot of care was put into it, they could at least try to promote the damn thing.
Ugh. This company is in trouble, I know they are.

DVD Talk Ultimate Edition
Amazon has new remasters of Maniac and Vigilante with a Jan 30, 2007 release date. These are Lustig's own films, so I'd bet that's what he's been working on recently.
