I opened my Volume 3 set this morning, and I didn't notice any packaging errors, or any different cases. I thought maybe the set was devoid of problems. That was until I watched Goldeneye.

About 40 minutes in, the disc started skipping, becoming pixellated, etc in my HD-DVD player. When I took a look at the bottom of the disc, I noticed that it was scratched to Hell and that it was also kind of dirty.

I guess I'll have to return it later today in hope of getting a good set.

I just watched "Tomorrow Never Dies," and the disc has random skips during the helicopter chase in chapter 23. There are no marks on the disc.

So, my TND and Moonraker discs both have mysterious defects (see above). Is anyone else having problems like this?

just tried to play my copy of From Russia WIth Love, and on two seperate players it gave me an error, and check region coding error messages (Zenith and Toshiba). It did play on my trusty old pioneer though. I gave the other disc from box 3&4 a start up, and Octopussy was going nuts...

anyone else had a problem...i assume most everyone has watched FRWL by now who got them on/close to release day.

I also couldn't play FRWL on several players. I've checked a couple other forums, and others are having the same problems. So, I don't know whether to exchange it. Especially since it was given as a gift.

I thought I was OK with From Russia With Love, but I discovered last night that my main DVD player won't play it.

FRWL plays OK:
Sony DVD-NS75H

FRWL won't play:
Denon 2200 (display on player says 'No Play')

If you are having troubles with From Russia With Love, please list your DVD player so we can see if there is a pattern.

Edit: Just discovered it won't play in my PC DVD-ROM drive either, so I think I probably just got a bad disk.

Good luck with that. I've returned Goldeneye 2 different times and at all instances the disc was loose and scratched. For whatever reason, the Goldeneye DVD case not made correctly (holder too small or broken). I would try just bringing the Goldeneye movie with the box instead of bring the whole set.

I haven't had the chance to quite finish volume 2 yet, but decided to pop out From Russia With Love last night out of my volume 3 set because of all the reports of play back problems. I tried it on my Toshiba HD A1 player and it worked fine. I have about 8 other players and when I have more time I will see if it works in any of them as well.

My From Russia With Love dvd played fine in my older Pioneer player. But now you guys got me nervous and are making me want to take the next week off work so I can go through the discs of all 4 sets to make sure there are no screw ups...

Sounds like From Russia With Love is having compatibility problems with some players. Probably wouldn't hurt to contact MGM to let them know.

I got a chance to try my copy on several more players and it appears to play fine on the following models.

Toshiba SD 3109
Toshiba SD 3900
Liteon LVD-2001
Pioneer DVL 909
Denon DVD-2900

Computer DVD drives
NEC 3550A
BenQ 1620

I returned my set to DDD for exchange because FRWL wouldn't play on my Denon 2200. Seeing that LASERMOVIES's copy plays on a 2900 gives me some hope that I might get one that plays since the video portion of the 2 players is essentially the same.

Geez, I guess I'll hold on to mine.

Definitely contact MGM about it, if you know how. Let us know what they say.

FWIW, I played my FRWL fine on my Oppo player. I haven't tried it in any other players. Sucks people are having so many problems. I have watched all of the movie discs with no problems. Haven't had time to wade through extras though on the special features discs though.

FRWL played fine on my Panasonic 5 Disc player -F84.

These movies look brand new.

I've also had the issue of the wierd cases for Goldeneye, and OHMSS (purchased at BestBuy).

A friend of mine had fingerprints all over his discs right after he opened them.

is anyone losing audio for a SPLIT second in "Live and Let Die"?? On Chapter 15 or was it 16 after James Bond reveals his entire stack was "Lovers cards", the transition to bed loses audio. Just wanted to know...

I just got From Russia to play on my cyberhome junk player. Does that mean I shouldnt bother to do an exchange at barnes. Will none of them work on my sony players? I won't get to watch it on our high end sony system.

i have only had problems with FRWIL I have loaded all of the other films with no problem on my players. thats why its strange to me, that only one film out of 20 and one disc out of 40 won't play.

i watched the movie on my pioneer, but I want a copy I can drop in any player and it be fine. i don't think that is asking to much.

sad thing is, FRWL is my favorite Bond Film...so for me its a little harder to swallow than if it was a later film

you'd think they have made sure it workedon all players. Sounds like an email to mgm is in order but if they hadnt got many complaints it may not be addressed. Do you know the best way to email them? My cyberhome player breaks down all the time. This isnt a good situation for me.

I checked and they have a place to send an email on their website which Im doing now. http://www.mgm.com/help.do

i don't have a customer service number (i know it is listed on this site somewhere) if anyone has a link please provide. I'm not sure that MGM has the best customer service, but Fox has replaced disc in the past...not sure who would do the duty here
