Feltenstein mentioned "A Star is Born" in one of the chats. They are looking at doing a set of the remastered '37, along with the Garland remake (possibly remastered as well?). I'm in for this one as well, and have held out buying either current releases in anticipation.

Yep, those are on the way. I don't know about Dark City, as it would be up to New Line.

Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet

I thoroughly enjoyed Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet in the theater many years ago. Hamlet is a Warner title that is not yet on DVD. Of course, imdb tracks this movie. But, I only know of one website that exclusivlely tracks this movie. And Warner's told that website that Hamlet would be released in 2007.

Mini-review of why I want the movie on DVD:

I don't think there were any changes to Shakespeare's original words. Was that the first "Hamlet" movie to do that? Branagh changed the century that the story was set in, but that gave him better lighting in his castle. The photography was excellent. I think it was filmed with 65mm or 70mm (?) filmstock. That was different than other films. I hope that transfers well to DVD or HD-DVD.

Yes, I agree that some of the "stunt" casting was distracting to the story, but it also made it fun to watch.

What I remember from that movie is the timeless story and the awesome picture. That made it wonderful theater-going experience. And it is one title that I would like to see on disc.

My short list:

Twilight Zone: The Movie
Murphy Brown: Seasons 2 and beyond...

and Neighbors, if they own the rights to that one, I'm not sure.

As much as I want the above DVD sets to be released, I think I read in an article that we can expect no more complete season sets of Murphy Brown because of poor sales for S1.

I only hope that the 1940 version of Waterloo Bridge starring Vivien Leigh and Robert Taylor is going to be released in 2007. It's the last film that I still own on VHS.

if looks could kill(1991) i love this richard grieco film.some people may not like it, but I love this film. just to have this barebones and in widescreen on dvd would be great, and maybe a richard greico commentary as well, and one with anwar. one with linda hunt would be interesting.!

Really REALLY hoping (and if anyone has any insight on this, I'd truly appreciate it) that they release Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales on DVD. It's one of the few "classic Christmas" tv shows that still isn't on disc. (The recent release "Bah Humduck" is not the same thing).

I'd love a remaster of the Woodstock doc.

And the fact that Linklater's SubUrbia is not on dvd is a travesty.

Yeah, I hate it when they use this as a justification considering a lot of shows got better later in their run

GODZILLA 1985

It would of course need to include the original Japanese and U.S. edited versions, commentaries, special features, etc...

I hope The Devils is released next year intact. Since someone on the imdb.com devils forum mentioned earlier this year that Warner UK was releasing that and Performance in 2007 instead of 2006.

And Performance is being released here in the U.S. in February. So I hope this person was correct with The Devils coming out in 2007. It better anyway or I will be extremely upset with Warner. And if they do release it in the cut R version only,I will be even more upset with them!

Performance was rerated R recently, and it may be the uncut originally X rated version from what I'm told(which is what was recently resubmitted in the U.K. for release).

I don't see the uncut version of The Devil's passing with an R rating though. Well if they do use the British print of the film. I can see it getting an R today. But if the 'rape of christ' sequence were restored. I can see it easily earning an NC-17 in that case.

Though it would be a great surprise if that sequence did pass with an R rating today. I can dream, can't I

They could include "SAVAGE MESSIAH", "THE BOYFRIEND", "LISZTOMANIA", "THE DEVILS", and "ALTERED STATES" (which I believe is officially out-of-print possibly for a future re-issue or inclusion in a box-set - even though you can still get the old disc everywhere).
I'm hoping for the MUSIC LOVERS.

I know a print screened at the Seattle Cinerama in October, so I wonder if someone is working up a master for near-term release.
And I don't think a Ken Russell set is in the offing. Though we may get a series of releases like Warners did with a few Visconti titles a few years back.

65mm and 70mm are one in the same thing. As for the transfer WB has done this type of transfers in the past, Ryan's Daughter, Grand Prix, Mutiny on the Bounty - they all are stellar.

the HiDef transfer on HDNet Movies looked great albeit a few reel changes that still had minor 'cigarette burns'.
