god, that shot of ennis in front of the fireworks is one of the most captivating, satisfying images in the history of film.

I have to agree with you there, it's truly incredible and when I saw it at the theater it was even better. I really got into the relationship in the film with Ennis and Elma, his wife was just so gorgeous and hot and she really loved him. Beautiful shot with his wife protecting the kids and the fireworks going off in the background. Perhaps this shot suggests plenty of range of emotions pouring out of Ennis, it's so poetic.

No commentary?! This doesn't sound like enough of an upgrade to warrant the cost -- and it was my very favorite movie of last year (one of my all-time favorites, actually).

I'm sure that's not everything. Remember when Snakes on a Plane was first announced? All it included was just a trailer and few featurettes, a few days later, they announced the whole DVD.

ReduxGuy, I agree, I am hoping there is more before I make any comments on the extras.

DVDTimes has posted the menus, which seem to confirm that indeed, that's all there is for extras on the 2-disc set. Pretty disappointing, I gotta say.

I'm just wondering if the "unseen footage" IS going to be deleted scenes. I only double-dip on certain films for those deleted scenes. I've skipped over a few SE's because they didn't have them.

Anyone know for sure if there are deleted scenes included on this one???

So really the only things that are new are a DTS track and the Grounbreaking Success documentary. Unless the documentary is an hour long, what's the point of this? If it's beeing put on the first disc instead of the anemic second disc it probably won't be longer than about thirty minutes.

Ok, this is a bit of a letdown but oh well. I will still double-dip on this! Thanks to Universal for such a lack luster attempt at a Collectors Edtion for a film that truly deserves much, much better in the extras department and for DVD.

I've been looking forward to a worthy 2-disc edition. Sadly, it looks like one of the worst double-dips ever, with hardly anything new other than DTS and one or two new featurettes. The second disc isn't even dual-layer there's so little.

I was really really hoping for a commentary by Ang Lee and the writers, and at least one documentary at least an hour long presented in anamorphic widescreen going into much more depth to replace the "sharing the story" doco. This looks to be a collector's edition on superficial/aesthetic levels only, but being as it's by second favourite film of all time, I may yet still pick it up and sell off my 1-disc version.

I would love a commentary as well. Oh well. I'll just keep the single disc release I already have.

I didn't pick up the first release, so this is a definite purchase. Been waiting too long...
