Ick. The Supergirl artwork is pretty bad, too.

Seriously, how did the WB manage to screw up every cover for these movies? They're all so cheap looking.

Has Warner given up on adding commentary tracks? V for Vendetta didn't have one, Batman Begins had none, Poseidon and Troy didn't have ones either.

I thought Bryan Singer was going to record one for this movie and you would think he would have lots to say since this movie was his pet project for the last 3 or 4 years.

That artwork for the 2-disc release is laughable at best, when they could have used the wonderful artwork for the theatrical poster for the 2-disc set, with a lenticular cover/comic book, or any other theatrical poster used during the marketing of the film. Instead they go with that, after all those nice theatrical posters, figures.

Probably going to pickup the 2 disc version myself, not that I really loved the movie, the cost difference probably won't be significant.

Regarding the coverart, they definitely need some new graphic design people. It would have been so easy to use the original Poster Design. I did this myself with minimum effort. Yes I know it's amateurish, but I'm just proving the point....

honestjohn, yeah, that is the one that is really cool. Nice job! and you proved your point, I already like it better than Warner's laughable 2-disc SE artwork. That is just so awesome to not use on a 2-disc SE. What gives?

Have to agree, ugly covers.

Either way I am waiting for the HD version.

Thanks and I agree. When I did this I found the Poster dimensions were almost exactly the same size as the front of a DVD Cover case when scaled down. That's how easy it would have been for them to do. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at one of their Package Design Meetings, if they actually have one.

When I think of WB and bad covers, Matrix Revolutions is the first thing that comes to mind.

Some of those might be situations where WB wants to double-dip in a few years when the inevitable sequels hit theaters. At least in the case of Batman Begins and Superman Returns. Fortunately Batman Begins will have the IME feature on the HD-DVD release.

3 hour documentary....niiiiice

I normally don't care what the cover looks like, but I do wished they had used the theatrical one-sheet.

I'm over here in the minority corner. The 1 disc cover is F'n awesome. But I'll buy the 2 disc. Supergirl looks very similar to the current 1 disc from Anchor Bay. BTW any word on what cut supergirl will be?

I expect, as mentioned earlier, that will see some bonus stuff for this one from major stores the first week. Target will probably run a lenticular cover of the poster art for this one the way they did for early Warner releases like V for Vendetta and Harry Potter. I expect BB will do sometype of special thing like they did for the documentary released this summer. The covers are ok, but they could be a lot better.

According to the insider on avsforums who encoded the Batman Begins disc for hd-dvd, Superman Returns will probably have IME. He said he talked to Bryan Singer's AD about what he could do with it. We'll see what happens!!

Im hoping its day/date with hd-dvd, otherwise, ill wait.

BTW - I also like the poster for the coverart instead. I have that poster framed in my office along with some others. Its awesome. Or, they should have even used the one where it just shows the superman symbol.

Oh well, the studios rarely get coverart right. They do it for marketing and not for what looks good.

Im waiting for some of those great cover artists to start doing hd-dvd covers!

Did anyone else notice DVDActive took the covers down? Anyone know why? Here's hoping they're going to revise them.

We've been asked to take it down as it hasn't been 'officially approved yet'. Sorry about that.

Does that mean there might be a chance the art will be revised? And thanks for the reply!

In an interview, Bryan Singer confirmed he would do an IME for the HD DVD.

IME stands for In-Movie Experience, something that HD DVDs have that allows PiP commentary by several different contributors. Kind of like the "Follow the White Rabbit" feature on The Matrix DVD, but in this case, you don't have to stop the movie to see how they made it. Sometimes it's talking heads, but often they'll show behind the scenes clips.
