I believe this is the third time they pushed back an estimated release date. Earlier this year (or late last year) they said it would be released in the third quarter of 2006. I'm beginning to wonder if this wonderful movie will ever see the light of day....

Anything new on this? I'd like to show this in a class next Spring, but I can't put it on the syllabus unless I have an actual release date.

I guess I can just show The Lion in Winter . . .

Everytime I see this posting, I keep thinking of the sports card magazine. Is this similar?

Becket is about the relationship between Thomas Becket, the Archibishop of Canterbury, and King Henry II. Stars Richard Burton as Becket and Peter O'Toole as Henry II.

Excellent film.

Excellent film.
FWIW, Peter O'Toole's performance as Henry II in Becket (O'Toole played a more aged version of the same role in The Lion In Winter) was cited by the late great New York film critic Judith Christ as the best male performance ever committed to film. Amazing stuff.

Thought same thing here, although the sports mag is spelled with a double t.

Yeah, isn't it about that guy who wrote Waiting for Godot...?

Even when I'm reading dry historical stuff on his reign (like anything involving the Exchequer), it's more interesting because I can picture Peter O'Toole as Henry II.
