Join The DVD Talk Review Panel - Now Accepting Applications

We have a spot open on the DVD Talk Review Panel, so we're taking applications again.

If you are interested in being a part of the DVD Talk Review Panel please email me the following to [email protected]

- A sample DVD Review [You will NOT be considered without a writing sample]
Here are a few examples to look at for format/etc:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=24127
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=24087
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=23604

- The Genres you enjoy/would like to review.

- A brief run down of the equipment specs you use to view DVDs

- If you are interested in reviewing Adult DVDs as well and which genres you'd be interested in.

- If you have a HD-DVD player or Blu-Ray Disc Player.

- Where you are located (Must be in US)

- What are your favorite DVDs and least favorite DVDs and why?

- What you think you can bring to the DVD Talk Review Panel?

Reviewers must be willing to review at least 4 DVDs per month and turn reviews around within 14 days of getting a DVD. We send out hundreds of DVDs per month to our current review panel (of about 50 writers).

We have a great Review system designed from the ground up by a DVD reviewer which is centered around matching our reviewers with the movies they like.

Thanks
Geoff

I'd just like to add that I had a great time as a reviewer back in the day (2000-2003), and had to give it up to focus on college - if I had a better equipment now, I'd do it again

Would we have to actually watch the stuff or can we just give an uninformed opinion?

Is that some sort of smartass comment or are you really serious?

I'd have to say... Either way a question like that would pretty much disqualify you.

Does it lower your chances of getting chosen if you don't have a large display? I have a 30" 16:9 tv. Do you have to have something in the 40" to 50" range to be considered to review dvds? I do have the Toshiba HD-A1 player, which I consider to be as good of an upconverting player as there is. I do have a surround sound setup, just wondering about the display.

thanks

Not at all. 30" 16x9 with a HD-A1 sounds just fine.

I sent my application in! Hopefully it works well enough for what you're looking for. I'm open to suggestions as I'm very flexible if things need changing as far as style or what-not, but I wanted to remain professional in the review I'm ambitious, and can't wait for a reply!

I figure now is too late to do this. Maybe next time... are you looking often for reviewers?

It is not too late. Have not made my final decisions, also we are ALWAYS looking for adult DVD reviewers... if that is an interest.

Well as I said in my app, I would certainly do adult reviews, as well as regular film reviews and TV seasons.

I could do four adult films per month, and four regular. Whatever you guys need. Somebody is short on time? I'll pick up some slack. If you need more from me, I'm very reliable and I am very flexible and can work with any tweaks you guys feel need to be done in review length/style as well.

If I get a TV season, may have to consolodate on one side or the other depending on how large the season is of a show (such as a season of LOST or something).

Rambling here, but again, very excited about an opportunity.

Believe it or not. We've cut 2 of the new writers we brought on. So the door of opportunity has opened again.

Special consideration given to people who own a Blu-Ray player as we're in serious need of more reviewers to cover Blu-Ray (we're good on HD-DVD).
