The Final Countdown 2-disc LE
First: For anyone in Toronto, this set is for sale for $4 at the 2006 Fan Expo. Of course, you'll have to pay $20 for a ticket.
I picked this up today and I might watch it in a couple of minutes. I can't believe that I got it so cheap, but it seems like a really interesting/weird movie.
How is the DVD? Is it hard to find? It's supposedly limited to 100 000 copies, but there had to have been about 40-50 at the convention. It's the first I've ever seen it, or heard of it. I bought it because of its insane price and how interesting the premise of the film is, albeit a bit weird.

i like the premise...its a good sci fi movie...and a lloyd kaufman interview to boot.

The film is pretty good, basically a long episode of the Twilight Zone. Anyone who grew up watching the film on TV (which, let's face it, is where 99.999999% of people saw it) will be amazed at how good the aerial cinematography is -- you just can't appreciate it in full screen.
The featurettes on the second disc are fairly short, but very entertaining. I especially like listening to the Air Force pilots discuss their stunts, and what a biddy Katherine Ross was.

Love this movie. I remember when it was HBO I used to watch it all the time. I picked up #26066/100000. Haven't seen them since but I haven't really been looking for them either.

If I hadn't of just bought a one-day pass for the convention, then I would've picked you up a copy (Cameron.) Unfortunately, I only decided to go for one day, because none of my friends were going for any more than that (except "Tarantinoholic" who is working there.) I'd ask him, but he just went offline.

No problem.
I'll try sending him an e-mail, and an offline message on MSN. Hopefully he checks one of them before he leaves for the convention relatively early this morning. He has to be there 15 minutes before it opens to the public.

I just watched the movie, and I had problems with my disc. There was a lot of pixellation, freeze-frame, and jumping, within the first 10 minutes of the film. I'm almost positive that it somehow got scratched (the first time I took it out of its case was tonight, when I put it in the DVD player,) or it's defective.
It's certainly going to be hard to exchange, due to the fact that I got it at a convention. The vendor that I bought it from, has a store or two in Toronto, but I don't know where they are located, and it'd cost me about $15 to go to Toronto on the Go-Train and possibly a lot to get there by bus or taxi.
Any ideas? Think Blue Underground would send me a replacement disc? I don't feel like just tossing it and buying a new one, because Future Shop wants $40. I only paid $4.
Btw, I really enjoyed the movie. It worked properly after the first 10 minutes.

Try it in another player to make sure it's not a compatibility problem with your player. There's a thread about boiling the disc (yes, it does work a lot of times).
You might fire off an email to Blue Underground and see what they say.

WIck, Blue underground has great customer service in my experience. They offered an exchange of my old Django disc out of the box set for the new one with the mini disc included...i'm sure they can fix you up.

Thanks for doing that. It seems like I should've asked you to pick up two copies, heh. Nah, I'll just buy it from Future Shop and return my shitty copy. They'll get their money back because it's defected product.

Can you send me a message with your e-mail?
I don't have Paypal, so money order or cheque would be preferred. No rush though - I mean, it's only $5. Canadian at that..heh.
