Off course it should not be closed, just because some don't agree with you. If you could please state what I have said wrong, than I would agree that I have not been correct. But I need you to quote me on that, not say I have said something.
Too bad that the very few that could have been intrested in a laserdisc thread have to see all this.

I've gone a couple months now without finding a laserdisc deal worth buying (to me at least), so I've decided to part with my player.
Free to a good home, but local pickup only obviously (I'm not mailing this 60 pound behemoth).

I was hoping to find great bargains on disc lots, but nothing came up. Years of averaging $7 or so per DVD have jaded me
There are several titles not on DVD that I'd love to own (Nude Bomb among them).
But weighing all the factors (hundreds behind in watching my DVDs, eventual DVD release of titles I want, space limitations in my home, cost of the rare laserdisc titles I want), someone else can get more use out of this player than I.
I do appreciate the input from you all, and at least it started a laserdisc conversation again.

I got rid of my Pioneer ld player with auto reverse and all all the top features for $20 a couple years back at garage sale-the guy who bought it was going to use it as cd player lol...I had paid $1000 for it at Good Guys RIP. My last few laser discs were collector sets like Jaws that I paid around $100 each for at Tower Records RIP and just donated them hehe.
Looking back probally should have kept it as there were some nice Criterion Laser sets that can now be had cheap and we will probally never see on dvd.

I still have my LD player. Personally I think the transfer of Star Wars on LD is better than the new Limited Edition DVD release of the original versions of the Trilogy. I believe Lucas said that the DVD release came off the same prints as the LD, but it doesn't appear that way to my eyes.

I still have a few players, but it's only a matter of time before thay all crap out, even though I rarely use them anymore. I pretty much replaced all my fave lasers with DVD, though the ones that still haven't seen the light of day on DVD have been burned to DVD-R, just in case.

You cannot read the same thread as I. As I said before, quote me where I stated things that are wrong.

I actually have 2 laserdisc players and my older one (from 1992) gives a better picture than the one with auto-reverse that is from 4 years later. Figure that shit out?
i'll be getting rid of both of them soon, methinks.

Pioneer players were released in quality tiers, with the CLD-D70x players at the top of the food chain and the CLD-D1xx and CLD-D2xx at the bottom. A CLD-D701 from 1992 would probably be a better player than a CLD-D406 from 1995, for example.
