Seriously man, it's my favorite Christmas movie and I still have to watch my crappy other version
At least there's a fairly respectable Christmas Vacation to watch in the meantime.

Bummer. I really thought they'd be compelled by the X-Mas shopping rush to get it out in time for the holiday season. I hope that same logic doesn't cause them to arbitrarily delay it until the '07 holiday season...of course, realistically, I probably won't want to watch it until then anyway.

Any News?
Has there been any news on this SE? I've been waiting and hoping for a long time now that Paramount would see fit to release a Special Edition of my fav Christmas movie of all time.

I don't know why the companies keep messing around with these releases like this. They did the same crap with Erik the Viking. It's pretty simple:
1. Release movie people are waiting for.
2. People buy movie.
3. Profit!
Are you in this business to make a buck? Yes. Are you making said buck if you're sitting on something people are wanting? No.
Figure it out.

I don't get what went wrong with this release. They had the specs and artwork all set and then just shelved it. Why? And now here we are a year later and judging from the fact that we're mid-way into November without any announcement, it's unlikely that it's coming out for X-Mas '07 either. Weird. It seems like such a no-brainer to me. But then again, it is Paramount. They still haven't figured out to release a Planes, Trains & Automobiles SE yet either.

What a mystery. I've tried searching the last 10 minutes for some kind of answer as to why Paramount cancelled this dvd. Last year I had sold my previous copy in waiting for the SE. Has anybody tried contacting Paramount Home Entertainment? I doubt they'll tell you anything, but who knows until you try.

I sent my old DVD off to my Dad in anticipation of this release last year. Seeing as how it's December now and nothing has come to fruition, I guess I'll go ahead and rebuy it. I haven't watched it in a few years so it's at the top of my Christmas viewing pile. Besides, even if they do unveil a new 20th AE for Xmas '08, it's Paramount, so it probably won't be that spectacular anyway.

I bought the old DVD today for a dollar at a pawnshop. I came in to see if there was any news on when the new DVD is actually going to come out. Christmas is still two months away -- we can always hope.

guess it's a silly question, but think this'll show up on blu-ray BEFORE the SE comes out. I really really want to watch this over the holidays. Isn't it like the 20th anniversary now. Damn, lots of missed opportunities.

Another Christmas coming. Another year of hoping. Any news on this?. I definitley want this one, and was wondering if there had been any news on this SE before I bought the old DVD.
