Hey all,

I know the thread is here, but searching has turned up no results. can someone please point me to the post(s) on the differences between the International cut of this film and the US Director's Cut -- also, a website on the topic would be nice too.... Thanks

I remember there was some digitally covered boobage in the U.S. unrated cut DVD.

Darn, from the title I was thinking there was a completely different version of this film to be seen... oh well, the theatrical version itself was actually really good...

Was there ever an official reason given for the cover-up in the US Director's Cut?

God Bless America for accepting that titties are 'bad' and violence is 'ok'.

Easily the most bizarre edit for an "Unrated" DVD. And then there's brief female nudity during the end-credit sequence.

I have both the U.S. unrated and the Japanese Limited unrated and the blurring is the only difference. The picture on the R2 disc is much better than the R1 though, as well as a kick-ass DTS track.

That's why I'd like to hear at least some attempt at an official explanation. It's so bizarre that they would spend extra money for adding digital blood for a scene in one country's Unrated Cut, but not another. There has to be some reason; it's not a "nudity is bad in the US" issue, since other, less tame nudity is in the Unrated cut.

Can someone tell me when in the movie the "digitally covered boobage" occurs? I've seen the U.S. unrated cut about 3 times, but don't remember this leaping out at me.

There is an A & B comparison here:

See how the nudity is covered up by blood on the windshield in the US version.

The topless zombie in question is seen through a car windshield. For the DVD, some digital blood has been smeared over the windshield to obstruct the view. It's not something that would leap out at you, because it doesn't look "wrong", per se. It's not like there's a black censorship bar over her breasts or something. It's just that the Japanese DVD has the scene without any obstruction.

Yeah, it's not a big issue that ruins the movie or anything (though it does add a small discontinuity when you see the car's winshield a little bit later without the greater amount of blood), and it's not worth the import for only that reason. It's more confusing than anything else.

Hey all,

Actually, the zombie in the CGI BLOOD scene seems to have been added digitally after the fact as well....

Later,

Matt
