Thank God. WB actually released volume two iin keep cases. I have to say, they covered their bases on this one. Keep cases for me, thin paks for other space saving insane people and then the exclusive for those like me who purchased volume 1 and then went all 'space saver'.
Kudos to WB. Death to slim pack.

got mine from amazon today as well....WOW
first off, the actual box is something i wish Warner would use more often. Its very thick and sturdy, not a fold up job like the signature collections or John Wayne sets.
also, concerning the slim packs artwork...its double sided with credits and chapter listings on the inside of the cover. I hope warner goes to this system across the board. I loved when they moved away from snappers, but it sucked that they didn't do inserts...this is the best of both worlds.
amazing package, and one of the top releases of the year in my opinion

This is, perhaps, the finest DVD collection ever produced, IMHO.
It is really remarkable the degree to which the people at Warner went to give Fred & Ginger their due.
The new "COMPLETE COLLECTION" is the most physically impressive DVD set I have ever seen, just from a packaging standpoint.
The attention to detail, original artwork, impeccably reproduced, the sturdy and efficient use of slimcases, the extra added touch of adding cast/crew and chapters inside the slimcase. Beautiful.
The reproductions of the original pressbooks for Roberta and Shall We Dance are fascinating.
The Soundtrack CD contains, what are likely, their best songs from the films. The sound quality is exceptional, given the age of the recordings.
...and then there is the new documentary PARTNERS IN RHYTHM. This is new, fresh and beautifully, thoughtfully & intelligently created. It is impeccably constructed with great clips, rare, behind-the-scenes footage, and an impressive group of people who are in the proper position to speak about Astaire & Rogers. There are also some marvelous archival interview pieces with Ginger, Hermes Pan, etc. If the end of this documentary doesn't give you goosebumps, then you are dead inside.
...oh, and by the way, the feature transfers are all quite stunning. After watching awful prints of many of these for years, one has to wonder how much Warner spent to restore these to such glistening quality.
But best of all is that these folks created this impeccable box, knowing that the gazillion people that bought last year's volume one would be mighty peeved having to re-invest in those same movies again, to get this delicious box.
The fact that Warner made a special version available through Amazon that enabled me for a mere few dollars extra, to get the rest of their films, put last year's releases in these dandy new sleeves, and not have to re-buy the whole kit and kaboodle, is not only classy, but a breath of fresh air in this era of monotonous re-issues.
Can you imagine if Sony had the smarts to do that for the people who bought the previous three or four versions of MONTY PYTHON/GRAIL that came before this year's edition?
That's what sets Warner apart from everyone else, and for that I am so grateful.
Now, wait until Superman comes. GEEEEEEEZ! What a great time we are living in!
I think this set and Superman will probably duke it out for BEST RELEASE OF THE YEAR (and I haven't even seen the Superman set yet!).

Agreed, This is already on my top 5 list for the year...and Superman will follow shortly. The Peckinpah set, from very early in the year also ranks up there...the Wayne/Ford set would be a shoe in if not for the color scheme problems.
