CONTEST: 2nd Ever, "Pick $50 worth of DVD's from DDD and win a prize!"
This is the 2nd time i've done this and really enjoyed it last time. I believe Cameron was the winnner and i enjoyed "most" of the movies he chose. But that's the fun part. The only power i have over the choices is that i get to choose the top 10 that you will vote on. After that, its up to the people to make the decision. Good Luck!
1. You can submit any size order as long as it doesn't go over $50.
2. No movies that i already own. You can check my collection in Sig. Be sure to check all the sections to make sure its not under Criterion, Animated, etc..
3. Only one order per person. So you cannot post 10 different orders and try to get the prize that way.
4. All entries must be made by Thursday 10 p.m. Central time.
5. On Thursday night, I will then make a poll with the best/most interesting orders. Everyone will then be able to vote on which order i will make. This poll will be closed by 10 p.m. Friday.
THE PRIZE: The winner of this poll will receive one item. They have the choice of picking from a catagory: Disney, Criterion, TV, Special Edition, or the mystery box. They will receive this totally free.
That's it. Post an order and you could win a free DVD. Pretty simple. So get cracking and help me buy some movies. Also, you can edit your order up until the deadline Thursday 10 p.m. central time.
EDIT: Please don't pick Dazed & Confused: CC. I have that one coming in a trade. Sorry, i almost forgot about it. Hope this doesn't mess anyone up. Sorry.
Thanks

What the heck, I'll put in my suggestion.
CEMETERY MAN $ 9.59 x = $ 9.59
SUSPIRIA $ 7.28 x = $ 7.28
DODGEBALL (UR) $ 9.87 x = $ 9.87
PRINCESS MONONOKE $ 13.39 x = $ 13.39
CHUNGKING EXPRESS $ 5.08 x = $ 5.08
THE EXPERIMENT $ 4.78 x = $ 4.78
TOTAL: $49.99
Cemetery Man: Horror with plenty of humor
Suspiria: Horror with plenty of style (you seem to like the slashers and this is one of the best)
Dodgeball: Unrated: heavy doses of Vince Vaughn with needless wrenches to the face. I think I like this one more than most. It took a second viewing for me to appreciate the utter stupidity. Plus it adds some levity to the group. And if you own Zoolander, you're sure to appreciate much of this humor.
Princess Mononoke: you've got Spirited Away, and this Miyazaki's worth a spot right next to it on the shelf
Chungking Express: $5 for Wong Kar Wai is an absolute steal. Some argue this is his best movie. Anyone who enjoys foreign cinema at all deserves to see this.
The Experiment: another absolute steal for the price. This movie, for me anyway, came out of nowhere. Suspense, thriller, action -- it's all here.

Anyways, i also added the mystery box to the possible prizes. If you choose this option you will not know what you are getting until you open the box. Let me just say, that with all the prizes you will not be disappointed. Game on.

Here we go:
-Cemetery Man $ 9.59 (Yes it's a zombie-horror/dark-comedy, but put that out of your head. This is a flat out great quality film, period.)
-Christmas In August $7.88 (This is a Korean flick that really needs to be seen by more people. It's a love story not unlike In the Mood For Love and Lost In Translation, and there are a number of DVDs in your collection that suggests that you'd really enjoy this one. Also, if you are a fan of Yasujiro Ozu's work, keep in mind that many compare this film to his filmography. If you know of Ozu, then you know that's a huge compliment.)
-Following $4.80 (You have two of Christopher Nolan's films, now dish out the change for this, his directorial debut. If you love Memento, you'll more than likely love this one. You can see that a LOT of Memento, including the non-linier style, started right here.)
-Kiss Kiss Bang Bang $15.31 (This is yet another flick that not many cared enough to see, or they just didn't know about it. It was released last year and it's the directorial debut of Shane Black, creator and screenwriter of the first two Lethal Weapon flicks. It's one part dark-comedy, one part hardboiled film noir, with plenty of that signature Shane Black action. If you ask me, this is one of the finest films of this decade so far, and one of my all time personal favorites.)
-The Long Good Friday $9.59 (Ok, so you have the Godfather collection, that's great. Now put out for this Bob Hoskins classic, an English mobster flick that many consider the UK equivalent of The Godfather. There is a Criterion version of this, but honestly, this just released DVD, past month or two, is the way to go. It looks and sounds great, and the extras are fantastic.)
-------> TOTAL = $47.17

AMERICAN BEAUTY $ 6.88 x = $ 6.88
TWELVE ANGRY MEN (1957) $ 7.53 x = $ 7.53
THE GRADUATE $ 7.53 x = $ 7.53
CHINATOWN $ 6.22 x = $ 6.22
FARGO-SPECIAL EDITION $ 7.59 x = $ 7.59
STAR TREK 2 THE WRATH OF KHAN (DIRECTOR $ 7.48 x = $ 7.48
TWISTER $ 5.80 x = $ 5.80
Total: $ 49.03
I picked mostly movies I consider to be "classics" or "great" that I didn't see on your list. For the last pick I went to your wishlist and found Twister which is already very cheap at DDD and would make a great final pickup to come in $1 under $50. The other movies all come highly recommended by me.
EDIT: Switched out Silence of the Lambs for the Graduate as per the OP request

I see several people are going over $50 by a few cents. Is $50 and change ok or is $50 even the unwavering cutoff amount?

THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN $ 7.58

My suggested order:
Bottle Rocket $4.79
The Prime Gig $4.79
Stir of Echoes $4.94
Clay Pigeons $4.84
8 Heads in A Duffel Bag $4.79
Idle Hands $4.80
Novocaine $4.79
Frailty $4.79
Final Destination $6.48
Dark City $4.79
Total $49.80
That represents a fairly good mix of the genres you seem to like - a lot of our DVD collections are very similar, so I tried to recommend some "hidden" gems as well as a few more mainstream hits from actors/genres you seemed to prefer.
I was going to suggest Ultraviolet (TV Series), Outside Providence, and/or Jerry & Tom, but none of those were listed at DDD that I could find.
