Star Trek TNG price discrepancy

Why the discrepancy in the price of Season box sets for ST TNG? S1-5 have been priced much lower than S6 and S7. At that price, I am almost tempted to go for the ST TNG S1-7 box set which only costs few dollars more than S6 and S7 together (even though I already own S1-5). Why is it that ST series box sets cost more than almost any other TV series???

Because they know there are so many trekies out there that are willing to pay those high prices. Thats my guess.

I don't think it's a discrepancy, which would imply that it was accidental. Those sets were released at the higher price, but they've just recently had a price-drop. Most people assume it will hit the final two seasons at some point in the near future (and everybody hopes it will hit the original series eventually). I believe some seasons of DS9 and possibly Enterprise have already dropped too.

As said above, it's a gradual price drop. It started with seasons 1-3 of Next Gen and DS9, and just recently seasons 4 & 5 of each show were added. The probable goal is to lure people in with low prices on the first few seasons in hopes that they'll cough up full price for the rest of the series.

Anybody who wants TNG or DS9 should wait until the DDD 20% off sale and get the complete series of both for about $250 each.
