Is the OT box or the individual releases up for pre order anywhere yet?

While the onscreen turn to the Darkside may seem quick, Anakin has been on a long, slow slide into badness as soon as he left his mother and couldn't do what she said, "don't look back Annie, don't look back". The scene in ROTS is just the final straw.

I can't believe this is still being argued. This never changes. Everyone goes round and round regurgitating the same exact arguments.
I just love that Lucas has to eat crow and release this.

Lucas released Originals to bate fans
http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/artic...27/story.jhtml
Until then, he says he's curious to see what the reception will be for the upcoming limited-edition DVD release of the three original "Star Wars" films (see "Three Original 'Star Wars' Films (Finally) Coming To DVD — But Not For Long"). "It's just the original versions, as they were," Lucas said. "We didn't do anything to it at all. But we're not sure how many people want that."
You might say quite a few, considering how many fans were angered by the digitized, expanded updates of episodes IV, V and VI. Lucas claims he's not re-releasing the originals to appease fans, but rather to bate them. "Now we'll find out whether they really wanted the originals or whether they wanted the improved versions," he said. "It'll all come out in the end."

I still like them, but they would have been much better if TPM was largely just flashbacks in AOTC, and there was then a 2nd movie between AOTC and Sith that fleshed out his slide to the dark side more.

Maybe the best way to show him is buying the limited editions in September, keeping the Theatrical Releases (DVD 1) and SENDING the Special Edition versions (DVD 2) en masse back to Skywalker Ranch?

Worms everywhere!!
I've seen each of the prequels in the theaters on release day, bought the DVDs of each on release day, watched and enjoyed them all. But I have to admit the prequels might actually benefit from another pass by Lucas. Some of the pacing and editing are really, well, stinky. One that just bothers the heck out of me almost to a "watch for snakes!" level is in TPM early on when Panaka is talking about the communications disruption and he delivers his line and you see him visibly look to the next actor who's line is next. That Lucas left such a glaring bit of footage, especially on the DVD which was done up after the VHS and LD, is just mind-boggling.
I'm not one of the ones that wanted to see 2 1/2 movies of Vader hunting down Jedi (although....) I'm just saying there's room for improvement, esp coming from someone who's claimed to make his movies in the editing room.

Yeah, I'm of the mind that he can tinker as much as he likes with the prequels. The DVD versions definitely improved on the theatricals, if anything just for the part where Padme jumps up and says "yes! I'm fine! let's go!" I'll also never forget the bursts of laughter heard in the audience with Anakin's "nightmare" in Episode II. Ugh. And also the infamous "nooooooooooooooooo!!" at the end of Episode III. Tinker away Lucas, tinker away...

Episode I - Attack of the Clones
Episode II - The Clone Wars
Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
It'll always bug me that the bulk of a major part of the lore and backstory of Star Wars was relegated to a goofy cartoon series. Not that the cartoons weren't good, but, c'mon. . .

The prequels should have had TPM & AOTC condensed in one movie, and ROTS should have been expanded in two movies using the same plot points.
You did need a setup movie, you just couldn't have Anakin start falling, but Lucas didn't need 2 setup movies! The story is about Anakin turning, and that needs to be real detailed in how he gets duped by Palps at the starting of ROTS. The problem is that all happens in the first 40 minutes of ROTS, and it comes off quick cause there is no buildup.
Anakin has a dream, 10 minutes later Palps tells him about saving people from dying, 10 minutes later Palps reveals himself, and then 5 minutes later Anakin turns.
This was all a good story by Lucas, and I have no problem with Anakins motivations, but this needed to be stretched out in 2 movies rather than one. TPM should have been pure setup, and everything should have been set in motion for AOTC. But because of younger Anakin, Lucas had to reset everthing up in AOTC.
ROTS is the meat of the story, and did not need to be rushed, cause you have to feel for Anakin and understand his choices. Instead he does everything in 20 minutes, and it just comes off as not believable, cause it wasn't developed right.
I always say, I love the story of the Prequels, but hate the execution.
