Decline of Western Civilization Parts One and Two. Especially Part II, with regards to music clearance. Too bad - I would love to see a drunken Chris Holmes in anamorphic widescreen.

I'm not sure if music-rights are the issue, but NO NUKES is another concert film that once had a VHS release, but has been unavailable for years and a DVD release seems very unlikely.

How about Ralph Bakshi's Coonskin? If Song of the South can't get released, what chance does a Song of the South parody have? With a name like "Coonskin", probably not much of one.

Yeah, I don't know what VHS is anymore, that quality is unacceptable. I still know what LD is, and I've gotten to know what DVD+R fed from my cable box is as well. Those two formats for a missing title will suffice until the real deal on DVD comes along... if it comes along.

I have a Song of the South DVD ripped from a Laserdisc source. There's no way I could get behind collecting hard to find movies on VHS. Especially when there's still so many great movies to watch on DVD.

I know that most/all of this thread has been about R1 releases, but as some of the films mentioned (i.e. "Moonwalker" and "1900", which immediately come to mind) are available on DVD in other regions there is always that route to consider before picking up VHS editions...

A couple of great titles that probably won't make it to DVD (any region)
Becket (1964)
Enchanted April (1992) by the director of Four Weddings and a Funeral, Donnie Brasco,...

i've sold lots of rare vhs tapes over the years on ebay.
some of the titles i recall getting the most for were
( these 2 were from Magnetic Video Company)
Sky Riders- james coburn hang gliding film- $102.75
Imdb.com claims it's on dvd, which is false, and most ebay copies are without box and are more than likely bootlegs.
Scruggs- Earl Scruggs Documentary- features Bob Dylan, byrds, and more- album also released in conjunction with it, entitled Earl Scruggs and friends- appears this was a network release, that scruggs won the rights for , so it was pulled almost immediately, never since released - $285
both the Decline of West. Civil. films sell well also.

DVD Talk Gold Edition
Just bought a dvd today I never thought would be released, "Eight Days a Week." Granted it was only released because of Keri Russell's involvement in MI:3, but I am thankful anyways.

A couple of movies I have on VHS from when I was a teen in the 80's that haven't been released on DVD,RAD,the BMX movie and Wisdom with Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore. Also I know I am always searching for movies for my dad of his 2 favorite actors,John Wayne and Audie Murphy, that can be found on VHS but not DVD.Also some Spencer Tracy movies are only available on VHS,including the critically acclaimed Northwest Passage, which spawned a TV series, which has been released on DVD,but not the Tracy movie.Just tryin to help ya out!

Great stuff guys, thanks for the recommendations. My wishlist has filled out quite nicely, and I've heard of a lot of movies that sound absolutely wonderful that I probably wouldn't have were it not for your posts in this thread.
Thanks again, and if you have anything else, keep `em coming!

My Mom keeps asking me about Enchanted April coming to DVD. Curious what the issue is with this film?
