http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID....qx/details.htm
It says
"URGENT NOTE: The picture quality of this DVD is basically terrible. It was seemingly taken from a bad VHS print and has print damage, fading around the edges, tracking squiggles along the bottom, and overall blurry VHS quality. The sound isn't so hot either. We are not accepting returns on this DVD."

Here's a list of their other blaxploitation titles. It says they are a US distributor, so they somehow must have acquired some rights to these films, meaning they are not bootlegs, but they apparently didn't do any kind remastering. I haven't seen them for sale anywhere else.

Everything that I've heard about Blax Films says that their stuff, including Coonskin, is all bootlegged from VHS tapes.

All of those are bootlegs - some of those films are owned by major studios.

I'm on a Fritz Lang retrospective, and had to buy the following films on VHS. I'm region free and could not find them anywhere after extensive searching...

You and Me (1938)
The Return of Frank James (1940)
Ministry of Fear (1944)
The Woman in the Window (1945)
American Guerrilla in the Philippines (1950)
While the City Sleeps (1956)
Beyond A Reasonable Doubt (1956)

The remainder of the Lang filmography I was able to find on DVD, albeit a few were only available outside Region 1.

I bet Return of Frank James, Woman in the Window, American Guerrilla in the Phillipines, While the City Sleeps and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt get a dvd release eventually. Both Fox and WB still appear to be dedicated to releasing classic catalog titles.

I really don't get why Disney doesn't just license out "Song of the South" to Anchor Bay, or Criterion or something...

Those are bootlegs, and can be found for a lot cheaper on ebay.

Most of my remaining VHS collection are cheesy Sword & Sorcery and Post-Apocalyptic stuff from the early 80's. Most of it is probably too obscure for a DVD release if it hasn't got one already, and I doubt I'd rebuy many of them even if they did get one. My collection looks something like:

Last of the Warriors
Knights
Iron Warrior
Invincible Barbarian
Ironmaster
Phoenix the Warrior
Dungeon Master
Beastmaster 2
The Blade Master
The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak
Manic Warriors
Wizards of the Lost Kingdom
Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II
and etc.

Plus my beloved copies of Wizard and Howard the Duck, of course.

These are the VHS tapes I'm holding on to due to no DVD release:

Abbott & Costello Meet Captain Kidd (poor film elements ~ recently restored)
It Ain't Hay (MCA, lost film elements)
The 30-Foot Bride of Candy Rock (Columbia)
Rio Rita (MGM)
Abbott and Costello in Hollywood (MGM)
Lost in a Harem (MGM)
Jungle Woman (MCA)
Jungle Captive (MCA)
Captive Wild Woman (MCA)
Pufnstuf (MCA)
Hey There, It's Yogi Bear (music rights issues)
Drive-In (1976)

There are other Universal Horror titles (like the Inner Sanctum series) but I hear there are more box-sets coming.

It Came from Hollywood (1982) and Terror in the Aisles (1984) will most likely never see the light of day because of rights issues, but Paramount was pretty close to releasing the former title a few years back before they yanked it off the schedule. Darnit. The DVD cover is still up at Amazon, too. :f

On R1 I'd also love to see Scavenger Hunt (1979), Student Bodies (1981), Death Ship (1980), Alligator (1980), and of course: The Monster Squad (1987) and Night of the Creeps (1986). I hear a From Beyond (1986) director's cut is in the works, so there's one I can scratch off the list. I also want a 2-disc special edition of Solarbabies (1986), because it's freaking hilarious.

As far as "important" movies go ... where the HELL is The Incredible Shrinking Man already??

I'm starting to give up hope that Beer will ever be released on DVD. I guess it may have to be VHS if I want to whip out my Norbecker.

I would love it if DVDEmpire's listing is correct and Amazon's is wrong, but I don't think that's the case.

The only movie that hasn’t been released on DVD that I really want is Rover Dangerfield. They really need to release it on DVD soon. I don’t see why they never have.

Recently, my dad asked me to track down a movie called 'Cold Turkey'. It's a Norman Lear movie that appears to only be available on VHS.

Personally, there are some cheesy Disney Channel movies from my youth that I adore for sentimental reasons, and I'm hanging on to the VHS releases because there's no way they'll get a DVD release. These include 'Lots Of Luck', 'Child Of Glass', 'Ollie Hopnoodles Haven Of Bliss' and the 'Not Quite Human' trilogy.
