Perhaps he was considering the multitude of packagings that DVD comes in: standard keepcase, double keepcase, simple digipak, kick Alien's ass 9-disc digipak, metal slipcase, paper slipcase, slipcase with frontal flipping cover, multi-disc brick, Disney Treasures style tin, circular Total Recall'ed tin. metal keepcase, and other shit along those lines

You know enough is enough when you're considering, not just considering but seriously considering to purchase a limited (to 1,000 units) edition release of one single film (one whom already owns two other versions) for $380. The set comes with an a variety of things additional to the DVD that are highly collectible. I'll never know how I've come to this point, but when I rationalize it .. it makes no sense. But there you have it .. just because I want it and can have it. And I can justify it many different ways.

I suppose however, if everyone could afford a Lamborghini or an automobile of equivalency, the majority would probably own one. MEJHarrison did sum it up best .. as one's man's excess is another man's dream .. or sickness if you don't have the resources. At least that's my version of it.

Well some people collect toys at even higher prices, and they won't likely go up in value either (check out beanie babies or pokemon cards). At least you can watch a DVD!

Somewhere between 500 and 1000, IMHO.

If I had my way about it, my collection would never be complete. However, I live in an apartment and don't have that much space to keep buying. Most of my discs are in booklets you'd normally put cds in. Also I have to look back and think what I could have bought if I'd saved my money. Since I don't have time to watch most of the things I buy, it seems silly to keep adding. Also, most of the discs look great on my 27" analog tv, but even when I look at some on my computer, I can see that the image is pixelated at times. If I get an HDTV, I'm afraid I won't like the look of the dvds that I've spent so much money on. If I can get rid of more dvds than I buy, then maybe I can keep adding to the collection. It's always nice to come here and see that people have far more dvds than I do. Regardless of what my girlfriend wishes I'd do, I'll probably still buy a few per month. Those slipcovers are so tempting.
