Myself, this will be that rare triple dip in buying this film, but I don't care, as I like it that much. |
Anybody have a clue as to whether the "Melba Toast" screenprint is available for sale someplace?

I would guess that the poster that will be included with the DVD set will be a reprint of this one, probably smaller, and definately folded. If you want an actual one, you can check eBay. They might come up a couple times a year. Again, you will have to pay decent $ for it. |
I would also agree that a two discer is highly likely

Glad I waited and held out on previous releases.

This will be a double-dip for me, but I'll definitely pick it up. I have this film as part of the collection with Fast Times, so I'll definitely keep that as well.

The artist Frank Kozik stated that he received a check from Criterion, so my guess would be the poster included with the set will be a reprint of this one. I talked to Marc English (the designer) at the SXSW screening of A Scanner Darkly (more on that later), and he said that the box will have a die cut front with a pull out of Kozik's original premier poster. It's such a relief to escape Universal's branding and advertising 'art' after all these years! link |
I didn't know Wiley Wiggins was at that screening.

that cover is horrid...but it will still be my first triple dip!

I like the cover. Looks like something one of the characters would have doodled during class - which I'm sure was the idea anyway.
Then again, though, think about it - how many Criterion covers do you have that look really cool? Most of mine are fairly boring compared to the major studio released stuff. I'm more concerned about the content contained within, than the cover anyway. |

I have held off buying this waiting for the CC edition, so I will be picking this up for sure. :)

I'm another one who held off. I'll be picking this up.

I am glad I held off on the last edition can not wait for this to hit.
That is not Melba Toast, that is O'Bannion's 1967 Plymouth Duster, Grey Ghost. Melba Toast was a 1970 Chevelle. And Pink had an early 70's El Camino. |

Not so much for mine, except maybe for a couple of Wes Anderson films (Rushmore...etc). My Spinal Tap... isn't. Silence Of The Lambs...nope. Slacker...again, not really. Seriously, tell me which covers you think "awesome"? Granted, I only have 15 or so Criterion editions, but even ones (which I don't have) that I've seen are nothing all that special. And also, again, I'm getting them more for the content than the cover. That's what is truly great about them. Cool artwork is nice, but it certainly isn't what sells me on buying the DVD (or more precisely, the movie). It's more the picture, quality and features. If anything this cover is consistently consistent with what I've come to expect form a Criterion cover. Then again, maybe I'm just not that much of a snob about the whole thing. (Which is not to insinuate anyone else is, just that it doesn't really matter all that much to me) |
Glad I held off on the flashback edition. I will galdly double dip for this one. Does anyone know if it is 1 or 2 disc. As far as the covers conversations go, I think it has more to do with the covers fitting the movie. Even the plain covers like The Rock, Robocop, and Spinal Tap are "awesome" in thier own way.
