To any of you guys who ordered the Best Buy Exclusive ...

How was the condition of your DVD box upon arrival? I opted for the cheapie shipment and boy did that reign true. The box was dented beyond belief. UPS carrier + cheap bubble wrap packaging = nasty result!! Never ordered from the BB site before and yes, my fault for the cheap service package, but in reality I am returning it and it's going to be their loss for choosing a careless method of shipping. If it were a standard amaray case .. that's one thing, but a box set like this should definately be shipped with more discretion.

No big deal on my part (this was a second keeper) as I'll exchange it for a new one over at a local shop, but wouldn't you think that a company such as this even while not depending on DVD sales for it's bottom line, would pay more attention to their losses due to simple attention to such details? I don't know .. maybe it's just me.

But I'd be interested to see how others have been fairing with BB's shipping method.

To anyone still interested in getting the Best Buy giftset, I advise you to just be patient. I got mine the first day it was released at about 7pm, and they only had 3 sets left in the action and none remained by the new releases. I go back today for this weeks new releases, and they had tons more in stock! I would say at least 30 more, all in perfect condition.

I thought this would be just as hard to get as the Munich or Jarhead 2 disc LE releases, but it seems Best Buy is keeping up with demand.

The Target lenticular cover on the other hand I assume is very limited now, as WB doesn't produce any more of them.

From past experience, Best Buy ships EVERYTHING DVD that way, no matter what shipping method you choose or if it's a big boxset. They drop a huge cardboard boxset in a thin bubble wrap bag and send it off.

I quit ordering from them about 3 or 4 years ago because of this. Sad to hear they haven't changed. Back before 2002 or 2003 when they always had free shipping on everything, they shipped DVDs in boxes. About the time they started charging shipping they switched to bubble wrap bags.

Overstock.com ships the same way.

I recently pulled the trigger on a steep blind buy for this version, but I got $5 bucks off there with a gift card I had not used. So it came to around $20 bucks for the dvd and I figured why not. I hope it's very good.

The bestbuy box depends I guess on area. Ours here is totally sold out, while with Target's Lenticular. I agree with you, despite having three nearby Target stores here, I found only one store who sells it.

The Target by my work had a bunch of them this morning - even more than they had had last week. So, YMMV.

Does anyone have a list of where this is available internationally and what comes with it? The international releases are often far superior to the North American releases. I loved this movie, so I wouldn't mind picking up an international copy if it was better. I saw the R3 version posted earlier in the thread and it looked nice.

Since I am in Canada, I couldn't get the BB exclusive, but I'll look for a copy on the exchange forum here, so if anyone has one they are interested in selling/trading, let me know.

i hear ya. im such a dork this is like my 7th order with bestbuy and i keep hoping for the best. but i cant help it - im just too lazy to physically go to a b&m for a dvd anymore!

bb shipping has been hit or miss for me. sometimes in a bubble envelope, but usually in a box. overstock seems to package even worse for me. i guess they have some sort of bubble envelope machine where they glue bubble wrap to your dvd to make the envelope. usually ends up tearing up the shrink-wrap a bit.

youre lucky though. im still waiting for my bb set lol. and i pre-ordered the first day it was online.

I heard from another forum that the number of BestBuy V Exclusive boxset limited # run is at 10,000? Can anyone confirm this?

digitalgrand 08-12-06 11:38 PM

If anyone is dissapointed in the size of the mask in tha tbox set then i found a way to remedy the situation. Go to http://www.thefutureisours.com Enter for a chance to win one of the actual costumes from the movie as well as other cool V related items

Indeed, do let us know! I have been putting the purchase off, and I hope to check a store or two today. Is there still stock in some people's parts-- maybe even more specifically Miami (where I'm at)?

Zman 08-13-06 10:23 AM

I checked one yesterday and they were out, but I plan on going to another here in a few hours when they open to see if they have any left.

I went and checked and they were sold out here as well :( I already own the special edition however I would love to have that boxset in place. I guess I will just have to keep looking. Anyways this movie was incredible. Has everyone else seen the site thefutureisours.com ?

Zman 08-13-06 08:28 PM

Ok well, i'm back to report that I went to another bestbuy here, and they had at least 25 boxsets left. They still had the pallet display but instead of all the regular editions loaded on it, they had a ton of boxsets on it.

Needless to say, I picked up mine.

I'm loving it!

Liquid Death 08-13-06 09:56 PM

There were quite a few boxsets at the BB near me, though it still didn't seem like a great value at $35.99, especially considering how tiny the mask is. It seems like I could "flip it" for more, but (for me) its not worth the hassle.

Josh-da-man 08-13-06 11:41 PM

Picked up the Best Buy LE Saturday.

Got it -- and a couple of those $3.99 DVDs -- for under forty dollars plus tax with a one of those 10% coupons they mail out.

The Best Buy that I was in had four of the V for Vendetta sets. Three of them had the shit beat out of them, and the fourth (which I snagged) was in pristine condtion.

mzupeman2 08-14-06 12:37 PM

I would have bought the mask set some time ago, but space has been an issue for me so I picked up the regular keepcase version. I had not seen this in the movie theaters, great flick!

TomOpus 08-19-06 12:33 PM

I was at Target, and in the mood to spend, when I spotted the LE (they had about 6) and the lenticular cover sold me (along with the booklet). It wasn't a blind buy since I finally got to see the movie last week.

gryffinmaster 08-19-06 12:42 PM

Still spotting plenty of both the Target lenticulars and the Best Buy Exclusive sets.

cardMan200 08-19-06 02:47 PM

Loved this movie - just got the special edition the other day. The makin of.. thing is pretty cool too - neat to see how it all was done. Anyways, great movie.

Mr. Cinema 08-20-06 01:03 PM

I was in Best Buy earlier and they had at least 60 of the box sets. After seeing how tiny the mask was, I went to Target and got the lenticular set with the comic. I think that was definitely the better choice.

basaro 08-20-06 03:57 PM

Definitely a better choice to get the comic. Then you can see how they butchered it up from the source material. Good movie, but I was disappointed with the changes, mainly the ending really.

do you have the lenticualr edition? seems like you dont know what comes with the Target exclusive

but the comics was butchered also.. 64 pages? and at the end of the comics .. you have to buy the graphic novel to finish it....

brownpoo7 08-20-06 05:43 PM

just checked out that site, futureisours.com, thanks for the reference! it was really interesting - i entered to win that V costume. its worth at least 6 g's! i hope that i get it! thanks, again.
