I've been tracking the Vendetta Best Buy exclusive sets on eBay just to see what was happening. This guy definately had his timing down. As soon as Best Buy sold out online and the fact that they don't ship internationally, I was interested to see what if any effect there would be on the aftermarket. So, I'm not surprised at the winning price due to sheer timing. There weren't many other BB exclusive sets on eBay to compete with this guy at the time and the ones that were weren't for international shipping. Looks like people caught wind of this and last night about 15+ of these sets were added onto eBay .. all mostly with international shipping. I got a good laugh. But I was kind of bummed as well, as I have two extra sets I was hoping to sell at least to make up for the cost for the one that I will keep. Oh well. At least the prices have normalized for the buyers ... :)

Yeah, that happens with many of those Best Buy or Blockbuster exclusives, the first ones get top $ but then drop in price/value rather quickly when supply catches up with demand
The Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit or The AVP Gift Set were like that, too.
The first ones sold like nuts but after a while, sellers only got regular price for them on eBay.

Do you still see the examples you stated at ebay? As both were extremely rare nowadays. Sleepaway camp's initial exclusive release is always mistaken with the new packaging.

That's really sad about the people damaging things on purpose. It's like what pedagogue said about vandalism in the thread about the woman who tracked down the teens who forked and TPed her yard: what do they get out of it?

In a way, this is even worse, because with some vandalism, at least you could see where someone might have a, well, vendetta against a particular person. Here it's people they don't even know.

KFelon 08-04-06 12:32 PM

Unfortunately in modern time some people just like to be mean & get joy out of ruining things for others & making their lives just a little more harder. Much like a bully of sorts I guess.

I hate to admit this, I have a few friends I went into Walmart with once & it was rediculous. They were going down all the isles knocking shit over & kicking stuff down the isles laughing & being the most rude sobs I've ever seen. I used to work retail & know how much of an extra hassle it is to go pick up after slobs. These people are the same people who bitch & moan when they get home & find a dent in a can, or that their can of pickles has been opened, or there's a busted can in their case of cokes. Some people are just mean & do not take others into consideration & then they themselves bitch & moan when something happens to them. Needless to say I'll never ever go shopping with those animals again. They're 23, they have a kid, & they act like they're 15 or 16 still.

Only sharing my 2 cents on the issue, but hey if you want to judge books yours would be all about the milk & incest. ;P

I'm holding off until a hopefuly HD-DVD release. I'd like the mask, but not a 3.75" replica. Give me a full sized one.

MasterofDVD 08-04-06 04:18 PM

I was weak and just had to pick up the 2 DVD set at Wal-Mart at midnight on release day. I loved the movie when I watched it that night and kicked myself for not getting the mask set and Best Buy. That was until I went into BB today and saw the mask. I'll take the money I saved and pick up the V figure instead.

I was amazed at how many my local store had. I figured a larger size case like this would mean less out on the floor but it was just nuts. They all looked to be in great shape as well.

cerial442 08-04-06 04:37 PM

My 2 disc set of V In Name Only (kidding) finally came in today from Amazon, along with my back ordered DDD DVDs from the last sale (Cemetary Man, Venture Bros., and Dazed and Confused).

I have a lot of stuff to watch this weekend.

i must say, that after reading all the vandalism stories in thisthread, i am deeply angered and disturbed by the fact what animals are running around in these stores!! dont people have any decency or moral judgement left these days??
in there no camera survailance or employees why watch this and take appropriate steps? like calling cops, breaking faces etc?
society seems to be deteriorating fast these days. sorry for the off topic, but this aggrevates me so much!!!!
too bad kids today dont value other peoples property, although with the lack of parents teaching any rights and wrongs, no wonder!
well anyhow like stated several times before, these people are so low and dysfunctional that they will never accomplish anything in life anyhow and just need a catalyst
for their own frustrations that they are the true losers of society, who we should actually feel truly sorry for....

SuperBatMan 08-04-06 06:45 PM

Attack of the Show on G4 just pretty much took a shit on the BB exclusive set. They said the mask would be good for a cat.

I knew the mask was small from the posts here, but seeing it there made it really obvious how small it was. Definitely not worth the extra $15.

They did sell out as of Monday, but were stocked back up as of yesterday. Bolded just to make sure there's no further confusion. As of 11:27pm est. on 8/4/6 Best Buy has the V4V SE with Mask DVD set for sale on their website :)

Well if you prefer it that way..

rather than posting it in this manner (my original post), which as I see it as simple

When I went at Bestbuy today to check, I saw a hispanic kid denting and ruining the remaining 6 boxsets.. I suspect the Dad has something to do with it as he was smiling at the kids back carrying a V boxset of his own while looking at his kid doing the dirty works.

I would do it this way.. on how I actually see and hear it

When I went at Bestbuy today to check, I saw a Non-English Speaking kid denting and ruining the remaining 6 boxsets while talking to his father "Mira! Papi! (while the KID slowly folding V and Natalie Portman's face cover art- the front cover flap of the box) Mira! Papi! Mira Mira.."

I suspect the Dad has something to do with it as he was smiling at the kid's back carrying a V boxset of his own while looking at his kid doing the dirty works.

The best way to V for Vandalize Wal-Mart, in keeping with the film, is to print up some flyers coordinating a Union meeting for employees and leave them lying around the store. Wal-Mart managers are instructed to report all such organizational activity to the higher-ups, and the main office often sends out a private jet with their anti-Union Strike Team to combat them.

So that way you're not hurting some poor bastard that has to clean up your mess, but you just might get an evil corporation to waste thousands of dollars in jet fuel. ;)

I saw that. That was Chris Gore from Film Threat. He told everyone that there were 3 versions of the film available, not realizing that the mask set was exclusive only to Best Buy.

It wasn't the first time I've seen him give incorrect information about DVD features, which would piss me off if I was with a studio. It's one thing to tell people you don't like a film, but when you get specific information wrong on live television, you're doing the consumer a big disservice.

Havent' checked on them for a while but here are two copleted auctions:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Alien-vs-Predato...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sleepaway-Camp-S...QQcmdZViewItem

Both of the sets regulary sold on eBay for $40-$60 shortly after they came out.
But despite the fact they're pretty rare and very hard to get nowadays, they sell for pretty much regular price. The AVP actually sold below MRSP.

Thanks for the ebay info.

I gues it would be better to sell this now whil the demand is still high.

at an average of $65 auction price...

That guy is such a goof. I like the episode where he claims High Tension is one of the goriest zombie movies he's seen in a long time.
