I live in Virginia. Just got back from Target, the (lenticular slip w/ comic) is pretty nice. The only complain I have is that the slip cover is very loose. There were only 9 left and i was there when they opened at 8am.
|
Man, I still can't decide on which set to get! I was hoping that the Target had the full graphic novel (even though it was highly unlikely!)
Now, I just have to head over to Circuit City to check out Eternal Sunshine and Schindler's List for $3.99 and $5.99. Also, can someone who gets the Best Buy Set today comment on the extras included? |
I agree that the slipcover is too loose. Its all packaged the same way as the Corpse Bride Walmart Exclusive. Heres a look:

Nice pics. Looks like I might pick this up instead of the Best Buy Set!

Those of you buying the V for Vendetta Best Buy exclusive, be careful. I bought mine this morning and they're using those clear disc stickers to seal the box shut and upon peeling them off, it removes a nice amount of paper and ink with it. I'm sure there are some people who share my enthusiam with DVD collecting or else you wouldn't be here and like myself, enjoy keeping the DVDs in said collection in mint condition. I am getting so sick and f@#$ing tired of these stickers that they put on these f@#$ing DVDs. I understand stickers are necessary for advertisement and security and such, but we now have the technology to create stickers that come off in a clean and precise manner. In this case, those clear disc stickers that they use to seal the product aren't even f@#$ing necessary! Why would you want to open the special edition box with the mask to get to a DVD that is sitting right there on the shelf next to it with no breaking and/or entering necessary! Not to mention the celophane on the DVD itself sticking to the binding of the DVD. I know that some of you don't care and just want the movie, but being a collector and enjoying the whole experience of the presentation, i.e. artwork, extras, exclusives and such, this really pisses me off. I just wish these companies would take their time and make a quality product instead of rushing this s&%t out to make their money as quick as possible. So if your not sure which exclusive to get and the mask is not that great of a lure for you, I'd suggest going to Target, Wal-Mart or Circuit City.

picked up the box this morning; haven't had a chance to open it up, but from looking thru the windowed box (it has a velcro-held flap cover), it does looks very nice. it resembles a small version of the DC Direct mask replica available many months ago. for now, i can't tell if it's plastic or polyresin since i won't open it before i get home tonight.

Does anyone think there will be an Extra Special Edition with a feature-length commentary next year? This SE doesn't seem so special without one...
|
Well the target version is starting to look better.

bump
I looked but could not find anything.. Is the 1st disc the same as the single disc?? if not what?? thankz |
I'm swayed to getting the target edition now. Thanks for the pics DarthMarino!

With this being one of my favorite movies of all time, I wanted to get all the extras. I bought it at CC, BB, and Target. Target's Lenticular is nice, but I haven't opened it yet. Good changes, and it looks nice. CC's Lithograph is cool, but I never got one before so I have nothing to compare it to. It's like a gift card that folds in half to display the red V and V for Vendetta, and below that it says Collectible Lithograph on the outside and the picture on the inside. Each's half of the card is about 9X7, with the picture on the inside about 1 inch of space to the right and left, and 1/2 inch on top and bottom. I don't have a ruler, so they are just guesses. The BB box is pretty nice, but I haven't been collecting for a long time. Like the previoius poster said, on the top and bottom of the box there are circle stickers that will not come up without taking up the paper, so I cut them along the edge. For mine, it was tough to open the top without ripping it, and found opening it from the bottom was easier. The four 'posters' appear to be exactly 5X7, so easy for framing and look nice. There is a circlular cardboard 'chip' that states that the mask is 1:2 scale and was made from a prop. The chip and four small posters are in a very tight ziploc bag. It has an elastic headband attached, and the mask seems to be plastic. FWIW, the 2 disc SE on the inside has no stickers on the slipcover. For those struggling to decide which one to purchase, hope that helps. If you really don't want to pay for the mask edition from BB, the lenticular is nice, and the slipcover is a little deeper to accomodate for the booklet. If you have the whole book and don't need it, and don't want the lenticular, the lithograph appears to be a nice display. Hope it helps someone. |

About how big is the mask, in inches? Or in comparison to the DVD case? Is it as big as a standard DVD case?

From bottom of chin to top of the head (which is pretty much flat), it's about half the height of a DVD case, and the width is a little more than half the width of the DVD case. Maybe 2/3 or 3/5. |
The mask is so tiny it's not even funny. Looks like its made for a porcelean doll's head. I wouldn't pay $12 extra for that set for it, but hey if you want to waste your money go ahead. I bet we'll still be seeing a bunch of these sitting at Best Buys until around the Thanksgiving rush.

Is the mask made out of a sturdy plastic, or is it the flimsy kind that regular Halloween masks are made out of?
|
Anyone know if FYE has an exclusives? Like a poster, or something? They usually have some kind of exclusive each week.
|
If you're referring to the type of halloween masks that are similar to the flimsy plastic picnic plates, its not that. It is hard at least pretty sturdy. I intentionally didn't bend it press it hard, but it's not like the halloween masks that bend and can puncture and stuff.

Here's some pics of the Best Buy Box Set I took in my photography studio.....
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v1.jpg I was able to use a hair dryer to take off the price and promo sticker off the front.... http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v2.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v3.jpg But beware of the clear sticker on top. I used a hair dryer to try and melt the glue and then tried to take it off and it wanted to take off some black packaging as well. So I just sliced the sticker...... http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v4.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v5.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v6.jpg The mask is small but I like collectables so I like it.... :) http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v7.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v8.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...oks2006/v9.jpg |
Does anyone know what's on the Wal-Mart bonus disc yet? And which version is it bundled with, 1 disc or 2 disc? Thanks. I bought the Target set and I like it, but I'd be willing to consider going to Wal-Mart too if the bonus disc is worth it.

^Someone at Home Theater Forum saw the single disc packaged with the Animatrix.

I think I'm only going to open the CC one disc dvd I bought. I only want to watch the movie, don't really care about the extras on the 2 disc SE. All the others I'll leave unopened. |
