Nope, not true. I just bought mine yesterday. I got the Darth Vader, Sidious vs. Yoda at Walmart for $7.00, and I got Asajj Ventress at Toys R' Us for $1.95.

I like to look through this thread from time to time, especially parts 1 - 7, but i am amazed at how tasteless and childish a lot of peoples setups are on here.
If you have the means to afford hundreds or thousands of dvds, thats nice and all, but for the love of god why do people decorate their living room walls with toys and action figures and cheap-o movie posters !?? It looks bad enough to have 4800 dvds in your living room like you are a video rental store for the neighborhood, but to top it off with comic book hero figures and action figures is a little juvenille and retarded dont ya think ?
Lets put it this way-
If a bachelor had to pick out a room in these threads to bring a hot date home to to try and score - its gonna be slim pickins. LOL

And for the record, I'm a girl...my boyfriend loves my room, and what goes on in it.

since the thread IS about your(and their) rooms, then that is what we are discussing here. Thats what people are posting pictures of - and that is what im posting a response to, and my impression of. And my general impression is most of the setups on here, not naming any names, would get laughed at behind your back.
just sayin -

Yeah, but I didn't design my room to impress anyone. I didn't post it for people to praise it, I posted it because you share pictures in this thread. And if you're coming to this thread (or this forum) to talk bad about people that have a LOT of DVDs, you are in the wrong place. Jealous, much?
And truthfully, laugh...who cares, but don't post rude (calling people "childish" and "juvenile" comments about people's collections. You're not naming any names, but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see who has figures and who doesn't.
And if you wanna bring up "scoring", from a girl's point of view, I feel bad for any girl you bring home..
You wanna talk about childish...wow...you win.

this thread is not really about YOUR room, but i can understand if you felt attacked, or took offense to my post. Im not directly attacking your room,. In fact i dont know which pics are yours because i didnt bother to go back and recheck. Im sure its really great
I can call peoples collections whatever i see fit to call them, its my opinion. And i dont think im swinging below the belt to call someones toy collection in the living room "juvenille". Because it is. I do understand that people have a freakish and uncontrollable love for movies, movie characters, and comic characters, but the essense of my post was - it just usually looks really bad when its spread out all over the living room walls. It looks like the guys house from 40 year old virgin or something, it just screams "immature" if you have a star wars poster in your living room, sorry - just the truth.
Yes, i realize that the nature of the thread is for people to show pictures of their collections, and not to deem whether or not it is classy looking, or design worthy. It was just my opinion that it isnt.

What's the problem with saying: "I know a lot of you display toys and figures, but it's not really my taste"? That's better than calling people all those names.
And don't say it's "just the truth" that a Star Wars poster screams immature. It's your opinion, not "the truth".
Just like you want your opinion to be respected, why don't you start with respecting other people's tastes for decorating?

To use the words "retarded" "tasteless" "juvenile" and "immature" are personal attacks, not descriptions of how I (we) chose to display our DVDs. You could've simply said it wasn't your taste, but those words were uncalled for.

the reason that im willing to argue with you, and that I KNOW that im right is: because i used to be one of these people, a long long time ago (a person who put a star wars poster in the living room). You dont realize how bad it actually looks until your looking back at it 15 years from the future(now).
But that was me at 15.
the scary thing though is, your not 15 if have the means to purchase thousands of dvds and toys and decorate your living room with it, your a GROWNUP with a JOB. and i speculate that that fits most of the description of people in here. If i walked into a 40 year old mans house (single or married) and saw toys like in most of the pics, id say "wow your son has quite a toy collection! bravo" . and hed say, "uhmmm those are mine". and well, that would be awkward.

... but seriously, yeah - I don't get the negative criticism either. So effing what if someone enjoys figures, little stuffed bunnies .. whatever the Hell (and apparently at whatever the age according to Skibs) .. to display with their film collection! I'm not interested in it, but I also don't care who is. Some of it is tasteful and sometimes it appears overdone IMO, but hey .. refer back to my original point.
I mean really, most people take pride in and enjoy their collections and presentations - just because you have the right to express your opinion doesn't necessitate you shitting all over it. I don't know .. it seems pretty damn silly and completely disrespectful to me. But .. whatever, right?

Now, I understand that I shouldn't care what people think of what I do or how I arrange a display. But it's also true that one's tastes in decor may be skewed, uninformed or just plain poor without the perspective of others. I have no problem with putting up Superman figurines, Alien dolls, or anything else on a shelf to enhance one's DVD collection, but I also understand the reaction of guests who believe the toys look goofy as hell.

Your home, paticularly your den or living room, is a reflection of yourself and what is important to you. How you keep it, how clean it is, whether or not you have an orderly tv setup, or 6000 wires sticking out, whether you have nice framed artwork, or a star wars poster - I think all these are kind of crucial when you have guests to your home. Its 10,000 times more crucial if you bring a potential significant other to your home.
I made the comments because i wanted people to hear them from an outsiders viewpoint. Im not trying to "shit" on anyone or their toys - im just saying that it reflects on a negative way on them that they dont see because they are too blinded by their obsession or toy hoarding.
Its like if you go to someones house, and they have ten thousand pictures of their cat. OR of their child. Like every single square inch of wall space is covered by pictures of their child - it looks really, really, bad.

Who cares what people think about whats in your living room. If they are guests in your house they have no right to say rude things like this skiblet character is trying to say. Personally I like houses that are not the same as the normal family house holds. The ones who like to show off what they collect and are more colorful then others. Just my opinion. I say quit with the chitter chatter and lets see more collections.

And why keep bringing up a significant other? I have mine already, and don't have to worry about impressing one with my room.

See the thing is...if you said it tastefully, I might have agreed with what you said. But you didn't...it was far from tasteful.
Are you going to walk into someone's house and say, "Wow, your living room looks like shit..." No. Even if you think it, you keep it to yourself. I'm not saying to respond to my post with praise and tell me my collection looks great when you really don't think so. Don't post at all. If you're so into looking back to when you were 15, why don't you think back to when you were taught, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
You wanna know the scariest thing about your post skiplet...you're 30!
I'm 21, and I have far more class than you when trying to express myself.

im tired of arguing with you about it. I looked at one or two of your pictures, and they are far from the wall-covered obsessed collections that are on here that look like the person went insane and hasnt left their moms basement for 7 years, etc.
dont get your panties in such a twist, go have a diet coke.

I can look at this argument from both sides.
I think the turning point for me was when my friend came over to my house and bluntly asked: "DUDE, why do you have posters of Star Wars in your living room?"
Face it, you can't have Star Wars shit in your living room when you're 40, so enjoy it while you can. Have fun!
