Is there a consumer site for defective DVDs?
If anyone can help, would sure appreciate. Is there anyway to find out if a particular DVD had a known manufacturing defect?
DH and I bought the Marilyn Monroe Diamond col- Vol 1 (6 disc) a couple of years ago thru Costco. We have tons of DVDs, so have not seen every one of the films in our sets. Just found that one of the discs in this set has bad freeze/pixillation and skip for a large section in mid-movie. ( First time watched.) Double checked it on another player just to be sure it was the disc.
Contacted Fox customer service and got this reply:
* Hello,
Unfortunately, we can not replace your boxset due to the time frame. We do not guarantee lifetime warranty on any of our boxsets and/or DVD/VHS's. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for contacting us!
Thank you,
Fox Consumer Services*
They would not reply to my question as to whether this set had ever been recalled for any defect.
Is there anything else I can do in a case like this? Thanks!

I've never heard anything about a recall or massive defect issue with this set. It's probably just your disc. (Which disc was it on, by the way? I have this set and can check my copy.)
Your best bet, sadly, is to see if Costco has any in stock, either of the box or the individual movie. You might be able to see if you can do a receipt-less exchange. But that's a big maybe.

Thanks for your input. It was the *How to Marry a Millionaire* disc.
I don't think Costco still carries this set. Maybe this was the so-called DVD ROT! Hope not!

With Costco not having it, your best bet now, sadly, is simply to buy a replacement copy (just the movie, not the whole set). You should be able to find that disc for around $10-15.
