This is excellent news!

I was fearing that when it did get a dvd release. It would be the R rated version only like Paramount did with Jade and other films which had previously been released unrated on VHS.

I hope this will lead to more unrated releases from Paramount someday(Friday the 13th series for one, along with 1900,Jade,Hellraiser 3,My Bloody Valentine, Thief of Hearts to name a few).

Wow, that was quick (just commented that Paramount needs to release this to tie in with BI2). Yet it took them so long to finally do it. I am glad to see Paramount finally release this Sharon Stone film. I will be picking this up for sure.

Excellent! 3/28 is forming up to be an expensive week. And yeah, it was funny it had just been mentioned in the other thread.

Yep, I have the laserdisc which was the R-rated cut as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing the unrated version finally (never could bring myself to actually buy a VHS tape).

YESSSSS!!!

I remember way back when I had my aunt buy me the unrated version because I was too young and she didn't know any better.

According to the press release, this is a 'never-before-seen unrated version'. I wonder if Paramount just forgot about the VHS, or if this will have MORE footage.

was there an alternate ending? I seem to remember that Baldwin's spiky sculpture was shown more than a few times, which led me to think it would come into play later.

Their first unrated dvd release was Team America which came out after the Friday set. This is their second unrated release from what I know.

Let's hope if they do rerelease the Friday films(which Martin Blyth teased at before the box set release),that they will be unrated/uncut versions.

Plus they needs to get cracking on LET'S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH. Pronto.

I'm pretty sure the original ending involved Baldwin and Stone flying a helicopter into a volcano. He talks about it earlier in the film. I don't think there's any way it'll be included though. This is Paramount we're talking about here.

Rated VHS is listed as 106 mins, unrated at 108. Only difference I ever noticed, after seeing the R-rated on cable a couple of times, is that 2 sex scenes run a few seconds longer.

An opening credits sequence showing a valcano erruption was scrapped when the crew filming the scene got into an accident and lost the footage.

There was a lot of talk about William Baldwin doing full nudity, which never made the film.

The ending was re-written from the script/ changed from the book to throw off readers/ possibly re-done after test screenings... it's hard to know what exactly happened there. I find it hard to believe whatever a test audience saw could have been worse, so I think it's debatable if there's an alternate ending available.

DVDActive has the artwork. They also state the runtime is 106 mins! Hmm.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's the same unrated version as before. And that it really runs 106 minutes..and not 108 minutes.

Since it seems alot of VHS releases had the wrong times listed usually off by a minute or two. So it wouldn't surprise me if the '108 minute' VHS release was really 106 minutes when timed.

But there is only one way to tell for sure,so I'll see what the reviews say and anyone that does a comparison to the unrated VHS.

The unrated VHS has an actual running time of 107 minutes, 15 seconds so the 108 minutes listed on its label is basically correct.

Now all we need is Jade Unrated on DVD and the Joe Eszterhas Collection is finally complete. The one thing that stood out about this flick even though it was terrible was that Sharon Stone was still kinda hot.
