We're not allowed to discuss the acquisition of such items here at DVD Talk...but, as any experienced online DVD shopper knows, they aren't hard to find.

Yeah, but I didn't think we were including bootlegs. It's just IMO, I don't think it really counts. But like I said it's just my opinion.

i have a copy of the original tommy boy, the original saw, and jurassic park 3. these are all widescreen, and in the best condition you can imagine. dvd collecting is my life, but for some reason, i only want the best version.

are any of you interested?
i thought i would check here before selling them on ebay.

i'd say 7.00 each, and i'll pay to ship?

I have Time Bandits regular Anchor Bay release and the 2-disc Special Edition (non-Criterion). I remember Blockbuster not allowing me to trade-in the regular edition back during their $8 promotion.

I have Swingers as part of the Money DVD Collection paired with Made. I then purchased the Swingers Collector's Series Edition a few weeks later.

Well, I guess I should Underworld to the list as I picked up the extended cut today...Will get rid of the old one though. Plus I forgot about Daredevil and the DC Edition as well. Damn, I waste more $$$ than I thought .

Gladiator (Signature and Extended)
Monster's Ball (Theatrical and Director's Cut)
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Theatrical and Extended Editions)

Otherwise, I usually sell off the old edition when I replace it with a new better edition. Those I chose to keep.

I've only double-dipped on two movies:

- Memento (The original 1 disk DVD, and the 2-disk Collector's Edition) - This is my favorite movie so I wanted both versions of the DVD.

- Star Trek: Nemesis (1 disk DVD, and the 2-disk SCE) - Got the 1 disk right after it came out on DVD, because I didn't see the movie in theaters. Just got the 2 disk SCE as a free selection in DDD's B2G1. Going to give the 1 disk away, because it's not a very good movie.

**** Please take note that there were four #d Limited Edition releases of Army of Darknes. The Hard ones to obtain or the so called "rarer" versions are the ones released in Canada.

I'm pretty sure I have old version of Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison and Mulan that I was too lazy to do anything with when the Special Editions were coming up.. now they're probably worth less than my time to sell them.

mine are usually because of shitty copies, not for extras upgrades:

Night Of The Living Dead

- bootleg I got on amazon
- In 50 horror classics collection
- Millenium Edition

Dead Zone

- once again ripped off by amazon, shitty choppy picture and no extras(this time not by a seller but by the site amazon.co.uk)
- paramount

I am ridiculous with this, I can't even name them all off the top of my head. But here are a few.

1492: Conquest Of Paradise - dvd versions from all over the globe (R0, R2, R3, R4). I went nuts on ebay through the years. Looking for better video quality.
Out Of Sight - DTS and Collectors Edition
The History Of Beavis and Butthead - I own 2 copies.
Crash - Directors Cut and I have yet to sell off the original theatrical dvd.
Goodfellas - 2-Disc and have yet to sell off the original snapper.
Heat - 2-Disc and have yet to sell off the original snapper.
Space Jam - 2-Disc and have yet to sell off the 4:3 snapper version.
E.T. - 3 versions, box, 2-disc and 1-disc reissue.
The Shawshank Redemption - 2-disc and snapper.
The Matrix - snapper and box set
Truman Show - Special edition and original release

Oh please, I do not want to go on...... haha.

Sin City/Sin City Recut
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly/GBU SE
All three LOTR films (regular and extended versions)
Saving Private Ryan Special Limited/SPR Anniversary Edition
Scarface/Scarface 2 disc
Warriors/Warriors Ultimate Director's Cut

As hard as it is justifying amassing a DVD collection to my wife, justifying multiple purchases of the same DVD is impossible.

I would've had multis of these, but I gave the originals away:

Black Hawk Down (obviously, kept 3 disc version)
Unforgiven
Shawshank Redemption
Pulp Fiction
Tombstone

Mulholland Drive R1 & R3 - one had DTS, the other has interview and behind the scenes
Army of Darkness R1 & R3 - one is the limited edition with two cuts, the other is alt cut with a superior transfer

Solaris criterion & ruscico - different supplemental material

Xage, that's quite an awesome collection. I knew there were a lot of ED releases, but I guess I didn't know just how many.

All mine have already been said:

Terminator 2
Donnie Darko
LOTR Trilogy

I also kept John Carpenter's The Thing because the first disc has an isolated music track that the second one does not.
